I didn’t plan to get lost. Just followed a dirt path because it looked better than the road.
1 hour later: no path, no signal, birds went quiet. Only sound was water somewhere ahead.
Shoes were wrong. I should’ve turned back.

But the water got louder. Pushed through branches, slipped twice, mud on my jeans. Then the forest opened. A waterfall dropped off a cliff I couldn’t see the top of. Pool so clear it looked fake. Cold spray hit my face instantly
