Couple things...

Tesla breaks the usual capitalist model, instead of relying on a huge web of outside suppliers for parts, like the seats and sound system, they build almost everything in-house for better control and efficiency...

Teslas have 20-40 moving parts compared to gas 2000+, meaning less maintenance...
