We have been knocked out of another World Cup. There is no use in conducting a post-mortem analysis of our mistakes or changing the coach now, as that would only derail the progress already made. It is time to focus entirely on the future.
There is no point in obsessing over media narratives or the opinions of arrogant figures like Romário. We were eliminated due to individual player misses and defensive errors from fullbacks like Danilo—this was our fate. The coach was at least attempting to implement a direct, vertical, and pragmatic style of football.
On top of this, our injury woes have been catastrophic. Before the tournament even started, our right side collapsed, and due to constant coaching instability over the last four years, our midfield and fullback options were never properly rebuilt. We were the only team to lose seven crucial players to injury, while others faced minimal losses.
To move forward, we must take the following firm decisions:
1. **Staffing**: Appoint Ricardo Kaká as an assistant coach to David Ancelotti.
2. **Goalkeeping**: Move on from Cláudio Taffarel as goalkeeping coach. We need someone more professional, such as Nélson Dida or Júlio César.
3. **Squad Freedom**: The coach must have absolute freedom in squad selection. The "Flamengo syndicate" and domestic league quotas must be abolished. While some advocate for local talent, lobbying in Brazil often results in undeserving players like Danilo, Weverton, and Pedro being called up instead.
4. **Long-term Planning**: Build a project-based football model for the next 12–16 years, ensuring four deep options for every position to combat our "injury curse."
5. **Tactical Focus**: Prioritize the development of fullbacks and midfielders to bring new dimensions to our play.
6. **Mental Fortitude**: Place greater emphasis on dedication, composure, confidence, and the ability to handle pressure.
7. **Penalty Protocols**: Enough with the theatrics. Vinícius Jr. should be the designated penalty taker, period. Missing is part of the game—even greats like Messi and Mbappé have missed in high-stakes matches. Letting just anyone take penalties is ridiculous; we must move away from the idea of "penalty specialists," as it only makes us easier for opposing goalkeepers to read.
8. **Injury Management**: Consistently injury-prone players like Jesus, Richarlison, Militão, and Vanderson should be excluded from long-term project planning. They should only be called up if they are fully fit and in peak form.
9. **Selection Criteria**: Ignore club playing time. Focus instead on player potential and positional perfection.
10. **Anti-PR Policy**: Media hype and PR-driven lobbying must not influence squad selection. Neymar, Danilo, and Sandro are no longer part of the project. It is time to build backups for Casemiro, Marquinhos, and Alisson, as their tenure is coming to an end.
**Recommended Call-ups:**
* **Midfield**: Breno Bidon, Gabriel Sara, and Dortmund’s Inácio (though he may choose Italy).
* **Fullbacks**: Douglas Santos, Kaiki Bruno, Kaua Prates, Wesley, Igor Serotte, and Pedro Lima.
* **Goalkeeping**: Bring in fresh, young talent like Renato Marin, who has expressed his desire to represent Brazil.
We must build a project around 60–70 players. While many may drop out due to injuries or form, we need to create a pipeline that ensures depth for the next 12–14 years. By keeping core players like Vinícius, Guimarães, Gabriel, Douglas Santos, Cunha, Ederson, and Rayan as automatic choices and building 3–4 backups for every position, we can overcome our recent struggles and build a truly balanced team.
