#SAMA32 was so heartbreaking, I have never seen anything like yesterday’s mess masquerading an awards show. Not even a single actor/actress graced that stage to present an award. Not even a single music tv show presenter. The performances were not a representation of mzansi sound in the past year. Don’t even get me started ka funeralsque band. Did South Africa one day & wake up & decide that we’re doing away with celebrities? The choice of presenters was so underwhelming. We even used to have awards presented by the child stars. Where was the channel’s talent? Or sister channel’s personalities? Does the SAMA institution have anything against the South African pop culture if yes why was is not represented on that stage musically. Oh and the awkward pauses after performances. No proper introduction of the presenters handing over awards from voice of god. Who is Busie & Why is busie gracing the stage?! What does the institution have against music station presenters who showcase and play SA music daily? For a show that’s been “In production” here on social media for months now, at some point awards running orders were shared on socials but the output left a lot to be desired. The biggest loser last night was the music lover. My shock when I discovered that thing was rehearsed for 4 days?! Oh the biggest winner was the one who showcased every bit of the production process and couldn’t wait for production credits at the end of the show. Last night the institution chose mpakamo over music and that makes me so so sad
