CAN CORRUPTION FIGHT CORRUPTION? HELL NO!

When the young people of Uganda organised anti-corruption marches in 2024, Museveni boldly declared war on them, saying they were playing with fire. Indeed, those who attempted to protest were abducted or arrested and subjected to untold torture, including sexual assault and rape! That was Museveni protecting corruption and the corrupt!

I have now seen Museveni’s ministers running up and down purportedly exposing the massive, runaway corruption at various ministries, agencies, and local governments.

First, they're helping confirm what we've always said that the regime is simply a criminal enterprise masquerading as a government. You hear of the scandals in his government and shudder. They're telling you that on average, constructing a public road, hospital, or school costs five or six times more than what should be spent, because these officials are always inflating the cost of every government project.

No wonder those thieves (who should be public servants) always do everything possible to protect the regime because they know that it would be game over for them when government changes. In fact, they invest so much of that stolen money in ensuring the regime remains in power against the will of the people.

The people of Uganda must remain steadfast and not be distracted by the superficial crusades. They're not capable of tackling the problem. A serious government, faced with such evidence of failure and rot for four decades, would simply resign.

What these ministers are talking about does not even account for 1% of the mess. Corruption begins right from State House and spreads like a cancer to all institutions. A former IGG talked of how every time she tried to go for the REAL MAFIAS - the big fish, she would find them hiding behind Museveni’s back! We've all seen how he uses hundreds of billions of public funds to engage in open bribery during elections. We've seen him bribe MPs with billions to pass oppressive laws. We've seen how he's always in the market trying to buy off political opponents at all levels. We've seen him award government contracts to friends and relatives without following due process. We've seen him engage in the worst forms of corruption, cronyism, and nepotism. We've seen him abuse and run down all institutions of state with impunity - Parliament, the judiciary, etc. We've seen how he inserts trillions in every budget for 'classified expenditure' with only him knowing what that money does. And in each year, he comes back for supplementary budgets! Money, most of which is borrowed. He is the chief priest of corruption. The scandals that have taken place under his watch are too many to mention.

Worse still, he has presided over the most disgusting levels of electoral fraud not seen elsewhere in the recent past - going to an extent of rigging LC1 elections conducted by lining up! Shamelessly declaring NRM candidates winners even where some of those declared got 20 votes against opponents with over 400 votes! To-date Byabakama has failed to release the DR Forms, the basis of which he declared Museveni elected with 71%. Because he knows the people's vote was just grabbed on gunpoint! All that is corruption.

Therefore, Museveni's regime lacks any moral authority to say anything about corruption. Some of his appointed ministers are known thieves and plunderers. We all remember how he personally frustrated the former IGG's initiative on lifestyle audits of public officials.

In short, a government that is built on and survives on corruption can not fight corruption. The talk of exposing and fighting corruption is part of the politricks that he has played on our people for decades. The people of Uganda deserve a government of their own choosing - a government which they can hold accountable. A government of the people, by the people, for the people!

In the case against @kizzabesigye1 and Haj Obed Lutale, the Constitution, the laws of Uganda and basic court procedures are being cast aside.

They asked the court for one simple thing: let their chosen lawyers, Erias Lukwago and Martha Karua, defend them.

Instead of fixing a hearing, Acting Justice Kinobe has fixed a ruling.

How can a court decide an application without first hearing the applicants?

Dr. Jimmy Spire Ssentongo @SpireJim has spent years using his voice and talents to hold power accountable as his contribution towards a better society for us all.

Instead of honoring his work, the regime is actively working to silence him through, among other oppressive tactics. A court order was recently issued against him, by which he is required to pay a total of UGX 30,000,000/= within 14 days or spend three months in prison. Why? Because he made a post on his social media platform calling out an injustice that, in the court's wisdom, amounts to contempt.

I am calling on all Ugandans of good conscience, in Uganda and abroad, to stand with Dr. Spire in whatever way we can, and help him resolve this challenge.

High Court presided over by His Worship Kintu Simon Zirintusa, a Registrar of the High Court of Uganda (Civil Division) at Kampala has adjudged Dr. Jimmy Spire Ssentongo afoul of “contempt of court” — for a tweet.

One of Uganda’s most respected lecturers, cartoonists and public voices has been ordered to pay 30 million shillings, or be committed to civil prison for three months, because he spoke publicly about money Kampala International University refused to refund or transfer — money belonging to the sons of his late brother.

This is oppressive Court order is a gag order dressed in legal robes. It is an attack on freedom of expression, and on every Ugandan’s right to ask a powerful institution to account for how it treats the people in its care.

The one man demanding accountability is the one facing a prison cell. When a university can walk into a courtroom and walk out with the power to silence, intimidate and threaten to jail a prominent lecturer and national figure — what fate waits for an ordinary student who dares to disagree with it? What happens to the current and former students KIU has oppressed, who have no platform, no name, and no one watching?

WE SHOULD RAISE THE MONEY. He must not be silenced. Our voices matter. I need your help here. In the words of Miria Matembe, we must all be annoyed. Give me ideas on raising the money and challenging the KIU impunity.

I have never been this worried! I have never been this terrified! What did the state do to Dr. Kizza Besigye? When he collapsed in court, instead of immediate medical care, he was held in secret for close to four hours by the very authorities prosecuting him. His family and personal doctor were locked out until 8:00 PM.

A week later, he is still incredibly weak and still unable to talk.
Those that wanted to “deal with him” for all these years, finally had him all alone, unconscious!

This post isn’t made to alarm any one but yes Dr Kizza Besigye’s situation is worrying and critical!
