Read my report of the Lenten Retreat on Hieromonk Seraphim Rose this past Sunday at Holy Virgin Cathedral (ROCOR) in San Francisco.
A very significant and beautiful event with two revered clerics who knew Fr. Seraphim personally.

“Be kind to one another, for all are fighting a hard battle.”
A gift from the St. Herman Monastery in Platina. I noticed it on the wall in their kitchen and mentioned to one of the monks how much I liked that quote. A couple hours later he handed it me.
“Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.”
☦️James 2:18
“For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.”
☦️James 2:26
“Therefore, brethren, stand fast and hold the traditions which you were taught, whether by word or our epistle.”
☦️2 Thessalonians 2:15
"Time does not weaken the unwritten traditions. Nor does length of years diminish their authority. For they were not things written down casually or left to human invention. Rather, they are the practices the Apostles themselves delivered to the Church. Practices confirmed by long-standing usage and the shared consensus of those who came before us. To oppose such traditions, under the pretense of honoring Scripture alone; is to undermine the very faith handed down to us!”
“Of the doctrines preserved in the Church, some come to us in writing, and others come from the Tradition of the apostles, mystically preserved. Both of these have the same authority.”
☦️Saint Basil the Great
Paradise means "walled garden" and is the same word in Greek in the Septuagent used to name the garden of Eden. Look at an icon of the final judgement, on the right side of Christ, you will see that the saints are coming to the gates of Paradise where the cherub is on the door, and inside is the "bosom of Abraham", the Virgin and the good thief whom Christ promised would be with him in paradise, that is with him in the Garden.
@gershando@Rach4Patriarchy I used to have this thought as well. Yet we see ritual in Revelation 5, 8, etc. We see the heavenly worship being liturgical w/ incense, etc
We could do more to help others (but we do help) but that is not a factor in whether or not we worship as God has asked the Church to do.
“Americans, both young and old, weary of the rootless and arbitrary teachings of contemporary Protestantism, are discovering the true and profound Christianity of Orthodoxy.”
-Fr. Seraphim Rose, “The Search For Orthodoxy”
@DaRealCrisCross@Rach4Patriarchy It isn’t a denom draft pick or any such thing. It’s not about Constantinople, Moscow, etc. It’s a matter of following the Christ, the Scriptures, the Truth. It is no virtue to look down on others, but we will not shy away from the truth. Orthodoxy = The Body of Christ.
@gershando@Rach4Patriarchy When you get a taste of the beauty of ritual you’ll only want more. Of course, walks with Jesus is very valuable as well. Have you ever wanted to listen to same song many days in a row? That’s ritual, too.
I was trying to decide to be a Christian or a Buddhist. I studied Protestantism & Catholicism, & found them shallow. Thomas Merton promoted Buddhism & led me to my first Lama. After 40 years as a Buddhist I found the Eastern Orthodox Church which is now my true spiritual home.
@Mike_kim714 Thank you, Michael!
Often hitting blocks and pull hooks w/ driver. I am trying to have my arms more connected with my body, less stuck, and swing free.
I’ve always struggled to move my hips to the right on my backswing but I feel more “stuck” with my driver than usual.
"Don’t worry too much about how spiritually poor you are—God sees that, but for you it is expected to trust in God and pray to Him as best you can, never to fall into despair, and to struggle according to your strength."
-Fr. Seraphim Rose, letter Nov 7/20, 1975
While these numbers are black-pilling on the one hand, they are very white-pilling on the other.
In 25 years elections will be VERY different. And Jews know this… that’s part of why they are so brazen in pushing their agenda now.
The boomer generation will stop at nothing until our country is fully raped and destroyed.
A steady diet of Fox News, Facebook memes, and megachurch sermons brought us here.
Truly a disgrace
@noneyahbs@BrotherAugusti2 Certainly many Calvinists do, but to what end? If it’s love for Christ, may they be rewarded. But the simple, logical conclusion of Calvinism, of the TULIP, is that our actions have no bearing on our salvation.
All of this madness ends when the Boomers are gone, unless they build their Panopticon first. That is the real race that will determine the future of American politics: whether Jews can successfully turn America into a prison before the dumbest cattle in the country can no longer vote for them.
