Is "A Princess of Mars" really portal fantasy though? Isn't it more categorized as Planetary Romance? The true predecessor of Portal Fantasy before Lewis would be stuff like Alice in Wonderland or Wizard of Oz, no?
"...canonized in modern fantasy by CS Lewis"
My disappointment is immense and my day is ruined.
I am once again begging Lewis and Tolkien NPCs to read another book.
Oh sorry people have to say “we have it so hard in religious dating” despite seculars having the concept of “one night stands” and people trying to get in your pants.
@OrthodoxOrigen I think Aristotle is a good start for philosophy students as he very much is a "common sense" philosopher, but I'd advise someone to read a commentary/introduction to him before reading the classics.
Someone mentioned she's in Amsterdam. That means the very likely trafficked very likely eastern european teen in that brothel is being raped for 600-1000€, less than the service job she was swindled into coming to the country for is paying.
@Aelthemplaer ...to the Pharisees than the Sadducee's. The other big elephant in the room would be Alexandrian Jews like Philo, who accepted a wider canon than the Pharisees and probably didn't observe the Talmud.
He wouldn't as he was against Legalism, but that doesn't negate his Jewishness.
- The Sadducees were Jews, but only accepted the Torah.
- St. John the Baptist was a very popular Jew, but probably an Essene, which means he rejected the Temple as an institution.
@Aelthemplaer Fair, but it illustrates that being Jewish wasn't connected to the observance of the Oral Torah/Talmud during Jesus's time. Funnily enough, I think the Sadducee's are anathemized by the Talmud for disbelieving in the Resurrection, which Acts also records. So Jesus was closer...
This happens constantly in manual labor jobs. Apprentices often become friends with their older male coworkers. I got a friend who I regularly play D&D with and he's older than some of my teachers!
- 7 is a rehash of Episode 4 (my gf thinks it's good because of that as she didn't like 4).
- My opinion on 8 really depends on when you ask me. I think the Luke parts are defensible, I liked the Rey twist, but I think 8 needs a whole rewrite.
- 9 is terrible and made me hate SW.
Eh. The main Star Wars Saga has like two decent movies and they are Episode 4 and 5.
- 1 is boring and gets carried by its score and Maul.
- 2 is really boring and stupid.
- 3 is 50/50.
- 6 has this weird dichotomy where the Luke parts are good, but the rest is meh.
No, as the definition of sex is what role your body fulfills in sexual reproduction. Males provide the small and females the large gamete. People with XO, XXY, etc. are to be categorized not as separate sexes, as they still only have one or the other.
Because children can be surprisingly aware of their life situation. Even with children/teens regarded as "stupid" you can have sobering and somber conversations.
Also, fame can age you.
@Tawadros15 I think legal gun ownership was a thing in Britain until the Victorian Era, because the Aristocracy was afraid of commoners having guns, especially Post-WW1.
I hate pimps. I hate them so much. Pimps should be publicly hanged and hit like a Piñata. Most of the women in brothels are either 18 year olds who have been groomed, victims of human trafficking or both. Getting PTSD at higher rates than soldiers for just 700 bucks a month.
@Aelthemplaer St. John the Baptist was probably an Essene and John seems to imply that some of the Apostles (Andrew) were former disciples of him, so it was probably the case that after St. John the Baptist's death Essenes started to follow Jesus (Apollos from Acts).
