Translational research program investigating best-practice approaches to integrating pathogen genomics into public health surveillance.
Coordinated by @unimelb
We’re excited to have our paper out in @LancetMicrobe today, outlining we implemented the use of pathogen genomics nationally and sharing this translational research with the rest of the world🧬🦠https://t.co/MBOZU9sSqV @BenjaminHowden@torstenseemann@AmyVJennison @UniMelbMDHS
The panel discussion on "Implementation and accreditation" in the CDGN & @AusPathoGen "Introduction to metagenomic sequencing" webinar is well underway with some facinating perspectives from our panellists 🧬🦠
This month's tracking numbers of sequences of priority pathogens from across Australia are now up on the website🦠🧬Follow the link to read more about the individual pathogen projects👉https://t.co/rAKCowJDgQ
Are you a clinical microbiologist or trainee working in a clinical lab with pathogen genomics activities? AusPathoGen are establishing a Clinical Microbiology Special Interest Group (SIG), and we would love to have you join.
Further information on submitting an EOI below 👇
The SIG aims to understand the needs for implementation of pathogen genomics in clinical settings in Australia, NZ, and Singapore.
If interested, please submit your EOI to 📨[email protected], and let us know if your lab is implementing genomics!
This week, AusPathoGen brought together representatives from each jurisdictional health department around Australia to present on the program's research outputs, and discuss working together to optimise national genomic surveillance approaches. Thank you to those who joined!
Registrations are now open for the "Introduction to Metagenomic Sequencing" webinar, co-hosted with @CDGN_Australia 🧬🦠
The sessions will be taking place across Tue 13 & Thu 15 August, make sure to register via the link🔗https://t.co/lAWsggLVHI

Did you know that thousands of sequences from across Australia have been contributed to the @AusPathoGen Program across several priority pathogens?🦠🧬You can see our monthly tracking numbers on the website and read more about the individual pathogens too👉https://t.co/KwIrdbiNVi
An interesting application of pathogen genomics looking at fungal pathogens in pine trees🧬🌲 Did you know @AusPathoGen is researching a fungal pathogen ourselves, Candida auris? You can read about the project on our website 🔗https://t.co/LLZmmKr3dz
Check out how our lab is integrating genetics with disease dynamics to research a fungal pathogen! Featuring @gabriel_aasilva , @damsel_temi , and @JannaWilloughby !🧬

Registrations are now open for the 'Pathogen Genomics for Public Health - Panel Discussion Series' hosted by @CDGN_Australia
The first session on Bacterial STIs will take place on Thursday 18 July, registrations via the following link 👉https://t.co/Zvi6oQxoyW
Had the pleasure of presenting shigella genomics 🧬 work last week @AusPathoGen - we used a national collection of 5k sequences, identifying previously unidentified case clusters in Australia, unique clones to east vs central and northern Australia, MDR and XDR @_PHAA_
Kicking off the first Centre for Pathogen Genomics workshop @UniMelbMDHS @TheDohertyInst at the @GHS_conf 🇦🇺grateful to have this global platform to share some of our learnings and diverse expertise in the Asia Pacific region (and not being the jet lagged ones for once!)
We were excited to hear about the priorities of the Aus CDC and think about the areas where #pathogengenomics will be able to contribute to public health #OneHealth#CDIC2024
