Someone in the Bible asked Jesus Christ, "What must I do to inherit eternal life?" (Mark 10:17). That was the perfect opportunity for Jesus to shed more light on sola fide. Jesus could have simply said, "Just believe in Me and you are good to go." He could have said, "There is absolutely nothing you can do. Just have faith." But He didn't.

Instead, Jesus started listing commandments: "Do not murder, Do not commit adultery, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness..." (Mark 10:19). As a matter of fact, He went even further and told the man, "Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor... and come, take up the cross, and follow Me" (Mark 10:21).

If these are not works, what else are we going to call them?

Jesus Christ spent His entire ministry telling people to do things. Feed the hungry, clothe the naked, forgive others, help the poor, repent, obey God's commandments, persevere to the end. He never preached a Christianity where you just believe and then sit down doing nothing.

So I think it's funny when people say faith alone saves.
So as you can see, Jesus didn't even teach sola fide.

Faith is necessary, yes. But Faith that produces no obedience is dead. Faith that produces no works is dead (James 2:26).

Anybody telling you that faith alone will save you while ignoring Mark 10:17-21 may be leading you straight to hell.
