@0liviajulianna I sat on this committee with Josh and cast the same vote – because this bill also had funding Iowa desperately needed for birth control, rural hospitals & rural OB-GYNs. Josh has been an unwavering champion for reproductive rights.
Talk about indoctrination: Iowa’s Board of Education is trying to force science teachers to lie about climate change and evolution. We once led the nation in public education and will now lead in disinformation. IA cannot go down this Orwellian road.

This new study linking pesticides to cancer may be the missing puzzle piece of why Iowa has the fastest rising cancer rate in the nation. I won’t rest until my colleagues in state and federal office start taking this cancer crisis seriously. The study: https://t.co/Gw9fWXm7ag
Absolutely horrible. I’m outraged by the violence that has happened against Donald Trump and saddened for our country. I hope for Mr. Trump’s quick recovery.
President Biden did in fact Build Back Better, and for that I am grateful. Now to ensure the durability of his handiwork, he must pass the wrench to the next generation.
A 6-week abortion ban is about to become law. It’s devastating for so many of us. Everyone deserves the right to make their own healthcare decisions, especially reproductive care, and abortion. Please join us and fight back for our reproductive freedom: https://t.co/vRLsbfEsAE
Reproductive freedom is at risk as we wait for the Iowa Supreme Court's decision on the Iowa GOP’s abortion ban. Get updates by texting “FREEDOM” to 515-297-6414. #ialegis
With the Iowa legislative session over, we can at least celebrate the bad bills that didn’t pass. Like giving pesticide manufacturers immunity if sued for causing cancer. What are you celebrating?
SIGN THE PETITION: Every Iowan deserves the right to make their own healthcare decisions without interference from politicians. It’s time to protect our right to reproductive freedom and abortion in the Iowa Constitution. Add your name: https://t.co/MH7p1EyUkA
Great reporting on this public-private partnership to enrich pesticide corporations & elect politicians, all while preventing sickened Iowa farmers from receiving justice. Gotta kill this bill.
Bayer/Monsanto has poured money into Iowa politics for years https://t.co/EPRSaryIhk
@MattTexEckerle My friend, an herbicide is a type of pesticide (which also includes insecticides and fungicides). So Roundup is both a pesticide and even more specifically an herbicide.
IA Senate GOP just passed SF2412 giving immunity to pesticide manufacturers if sued for causing cancer. The bill was written by Bayer, maker of Roundup (linked to lymphoma). IA would be the 1st to give immunity to pesticide makers. IA has the nation’s 2nd highest cancer rate.
@SpfldThunder We don’t know the main cause(s) of our cancer crisis yet, but the stats are age-adjusted so our higher rates are not attributed to our older population. You can find more info from the Iowa Cancer Registry which monitors cancer rates. https://t.co/TbRcHz3Kjq
The IA GOP continues to advance a bill (HSB 737) that gives legal protections to pesticide companies accused of causing cancer. This comes while Iowa battles the fasting rising cancer rates in the US. Suspicious? If you follow the $$$, guess where it goes.
Iowa GOP lawmakers just advanced a constitutional amendment to require a two-thirds supermajority vote to ever increase corporate taxes. I don’t think we need to stack the deck even more favorably for CEOs and shareholders who are already enjoying historic wealth.
Still hot off the press, the Iowa GOP’s massive education bill is being rushed through the Iowa House this evening (unread by most) with debate limited to 6:30pm so that legislators can get to Drake and Iowa State basketball games. 2 bball games vs a half million kids.
With wonderful support from my family, I’m running for reelection to the Iowa House. It’s been an honor to be in on the ground floor of what I believe will be Iowa’s comeback. Join me in the movement to rebalance the statehouse (with Democrats). https://t.co/HA431FKOiI
