In 2015, ISIS kidnapped 20 Egyptian Coptic Christians working in Libya and later executed them on a Mediterranean beach because of their Christian faith. The men were ordinary migrant workers trying to support their families, yet even in their final moments they were seen praying to Jesus rather than abandoning their faith.

Alongside them was Matthew Ayariga, a migrant worker from Ghana. After witnessing the others refuse to deny Christ, he declared, “Their God is my God,” and chose to die beside them. Today, all 21 are remembered as martyrs, their story becoming a powerful symbol of faith and courage in the face of persecution.

Elon Musk’s next Texas megaproject could become one of the largest manufacturing complexes ever built

Tesla, SpaceX and xAI are moving forward with Terafab, a massive semiconductor manufacturing project planned for Grimes County, Texas, near College Station

The facility is expected to eventually cover roughly 100 million square feet, with an initial investment of about $16.8 billion

For perspective, 100 million square feet equals roughly 2,300 acres of floor area

The reason for building something this large is simple: AI requires enormous amounts of computing hardware

Tesla needs increasingly powerful chips for autonomous driving, Cybercab and Optimus humanoid robots, while SpaceX and xAI also expect massive future demand for computing power

Musk has argued that existing semiconductor manufacturers may eventually be unable to produce enough chips to meet the needs of his companies

Instead of relying entirely on suppliers such as TSMC and Samsung, Terafab is intended to bring much of the semiconductor supply chain together at one enormous site

That could include logic-chip manufacturing, memory, advanced packaging and testing — processes normally spread across multiple companies and factories

The long-term goal is even more ambitious: Terafab is being designed around eventually supplying more than one terawatt of computing capacity per year

The project is also expected to create at least 3,000 direct jobs, while generating additional demand for construction, infrastructure, housing and suppliers throughout the region

What makes Terafab especially significant is the level of vertical integration Musk is pursuing

Tesla already builds vehicles, batteries, energy systems, AI computers and robots, while SpaceX builds rockets, satellites and communications infrastructure

Now the companies are moving even deeper into the supply chain by attempting to manufacture one of the most advanced products on Earth: semiconductors

If Terafab reaches the scale being proposed, it won’t simply be another factory

On February 1, 2024, Marion County Sheriff’s Deputy Christopher Witte responded to a report of a woman behaving erratically and attempting to take an elderly woman’s car keys at a shopping plaza along East Highway 40 in Silver Springs, Florida.

While the deputy was standing near the rear of his patrol SUV, 33-year-old Kendra Boone climbed through the open passenger-side window, moved into the driver’s seat and sped away. The entire theft unfolded in roughly 16 seconds.

Boone led deputies on a pursuit of approximately 4.5 miles, reportedly reaching speeds well above 100 mph. During the chase, she made multiple U-turns and eventually attempted to pass a semi-truck using the right shoulder. As she re-entered the roadway, she lost control, crossed the centerline and struck an oncoming pickup truck head-on.

Boone and two occupants of the pickup, 73-year-old Richard “Rick” Middleton and 72-year-old Diane Held, were pronounced dead at the scene. A third person inside the truck survived but was critically injured.

The incident later drew national attention after body-camera and dash-camera footage showed how quickly Boone entered the running patrol vehicle. It also raised questions about whether patrol cars should be equipped with secure-idle or remote immobilization systems that allow the engine to remain running without leaving the vehicle vulnerable to theft.
