The Mavericks are firing Harrison nine months after the jarring and stunning Luka Doncic trade – a move for which Dumont took accountability and accepted as a mistake in a court-side interaction with a fan on Monday night.
Dallas Mavericks since Christmas:
— Luka Doncic gets hurt
— Dereck Lively out indefinitely
— Trade away Luka Doncic
— Daniel Gafford out indefinitely
— Anthony Davis out indefinitely
— Kyrie Irving tears ACL
Season from hell.
My guess is Dallas is waiting til their 2023 pick is sent to NYK so they can mortgage like 5 first round picks for a second star a la the Clippers, Cavs, T-Wolves etc. Teams could see value in these picks since they could hit after Luka’s contract ends
On the Hoop Collective Podcast, Tim MacMahon says the Mavs are having conversations with teams that might set up trade talks for this summer. Says he expects Mavs to either “stand pat or operate around the fringes”
Every time I see Ja or Zion hooping I’m reminded the Mavs, Pelicans, and Grizzlies all had the same record and same odds in the 2019 lottery. Memphis and NOLA both won and got two superstars while the mavs lost and sent their pick to Atlanta 😒 what could have been
Dwight Powell’s contract and the right to swap 2022 FRP with the clippers and suns pick to OKC for cap space (they own both). Fair or nah? Would’ve been the difference from pick 29 to pick 21 this year.
@RyanSchaffer34 @DakDoncic How would the fit be weird? Besides spacing obviously. Luka thrives most when we have a roller/ lob threat (Powell last year, WCS). Hardaway, DFS, Kleber all shoot ~40% from three. Brunson too if he’s not included in the trade.
