An excellent first in US experience with Volt 2.0 with ICE integration. Having used this technology in trial, LMR, and now 2.0, the newest version adds excellent maneuverability to a refined, effective, and safe platform. Bravo @AbbottCardio@uyaron@JoeProvost7
Cohort 3 of the ViewFlex X ICE First-in-Human study reflects what innovation should look like.
Continuous evolution with meaningful clinical impact.
With the updated EnSite X v6.1 software, we are seeing tangible workflow and imaging advancements:
1. Improved contour editing workflow
2. Auto geometry capture with continuous catheter rotation from both the right and left atrium
3. Automated structure labeling on snapshots
4. Pre–E-fields for voltage mapping, providing valuable guidance for catheter positioning prior to energy delivery
These enhancements are not just incremental, they represent a step forward in integrated mapping and PFA with real-time imaging synergy.
Proud to contribute to this work at @ARGJonesboro , & @StBernards , advancing imaging, integration, and the future of electrophysiology.

Excited to be back at #AFSymposium2026! The #AbbottEP team is ready with in‑booth demos, live cases, and late breakers.
Kicked off with a live case from Dr. Boris Schmidt showing #VoltPFA for Afib with Amulet #LAAO—smooth workflow powered by EnSite X + ICE.

First-in-Nation: Integrating ViewFlex X SE ICE with VOLT PFA
This week started with a meaningful milestone at St. Bernards Healthcare (Jonesboro, AR) — first-in-nation combining Abbott’s ViewFlex X Sensor Enabled ICE with the VOLT PFA platform.
This builds on our prior experience with:
• FIH clinical trial use of ViewFlex X SE
• Post-FDA VOLT PFA cases as part of the VOLT LMR
What stood out was how well imaging + mapping + energy delivery functioned as one ecosystem in a zero fluoroscopy / zero contrast workflow .
Key takeaways
🔹 ICE integrated into EnSite X for real-time anatomic confirmation during PFA
🔹 Safe ICE-in-LA workflow and transseptal planning that reduced unnecessary manipulation in small LA anatomy. Integration helped support transseptal decision-making up front—optimizing trajectory and reducing unnecessary catheter manipulation in small LA anatomy.
🔹 Quick LA shell creation to confirm ridge/posterior wall/carina geometry early
🔹 Small atria lesion strategy: integration helped us decide tighter antral lesions vs intentionally addressing a posterior “critical isthmus” when the posterior corridor was inherently narrow
🔹 During VOLT delivery: very low microbubble visualization on ICE and no clinical hemolysis observed
VOLT workflow highlights: single-catheter mapping/pacing/ablation, impedance-based contact visualization, balloon-in-basket (8 splines), selective electrode delivery; PVI ± PVI+ as clinically indicated (GA used).
Grateful for the St. Bernards EP Lab team and the Abbott clinical support team.

Proud to share that we completed our first and some of the first cases in the nation post fda approval of the Abbott VOLT Pulsed Field Ablation (PFA) system at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas as part of the #VOLT LMR, following VOLT’s FDA approval in late December.
What stood out in our early experience:
- Zero fluoroscopy workflow in these cases - PVI, with additional workflow as clinically needed - Very low microbubble visualization on ICE, and no clinical hemolysis observed in any of our cases
We also appreciate the platform design elements that support efficiency and precision: - Balloon-in-basket design (8 splines) that conforms to anatomy and supports targeted lesion sets - Real-time contact visualization (impedance-based) for lesion tracking - Single-catheter , zero exchange workflow enabling mapping, pacing, and ablation while minimizing catheter exchanges - The ability to customize energy delivery by selectively delivering from electrodes in good contact
Our cases were performed under general anesthesia, and it’s encouraging that PFA workflow characteristics may support future pathways that reduce reliance on GA in selected patients.
Huge thanks to our incredible St. Bernards EP Lab team and the outstanding clinical support team from @AbbottCardio. Teamwork made this LMR launch a success.
A meaningful step forward for Abbott EP: FDA approves our Volt™ Pulsed Field Ablation (PFA) System for AFib treatment.

Last week, I had the privilege of attending GIEPC in Munich.
It was an honor to hear EPs across Europe discuss, debate, and demo their evolving PFA workflows (contact, conscious sedation, beyond PVI) and methodologies to tackle AF & VT. #AbbottProud
More Global IEPC highlights: excellent mix of EP leaders demonstrating their Volt PFA workflows & evolving VT science w/ advanced mapping. Thank you to the many physicians who made this such a meaningful educational program.

Awesome first half of 2025 at Abbott EP. From elevating PFA workflows with EnSite Contact Index to launching Volt PFA in Europe, there is amazing momentum heading into the rest of year.
Grateful to the many teammates & friends who’ve made these milestones possible. #AbbottProud
As the conference wraps, I want to again credit this team. Since Friday, our clinicals have led nonstop demos across a huge variety of disciplines (EnSite Contact Index, Agilis 13F, Integrated ICE, Perclose, HDGX, etc) and have done so beautifully. Thank you for a great #HRS2025.
One of my favorite things about Abbott is the sheer number of life-changing solutions our teams offer. Today, there was no better demonstration of that than the joint presentation by @Drdevignair & @siddmann. #AbbottProud
Incredibly #AbbottProud to join a packed house for a live demonstration of our next-generation tech at today’s PFA Summit. A great start to what is sure to be a great #HRS2025.
Excellent PFA Summit finale by @josoriomd on how new tools expand the workflows possible with PFA. Thank you to the many #EPeeps who made this program a powerful kickoff to #HRS2025!
Day 1 at #HRS2025 off to a great start with our annual the EP Fellows program. Always one of my favorite examples of clinical collaboration, featuring hands-on learning btwn our mappers and future EP leaders.
Next session at 2pm next to Rhythm Theater 2.
Bonus #EHRA2025 Highlight:
After hours at the convention, David Smith used #EnSiteConnect to remotely map his team’s first Contact Index case back in the US. Best-in-class support from Vienna to Alabama. Amazing. #ContactMatters#AbbottProud
