Big turns 12. I switch on a piano shuffle. A tune comes on that I listened to ad nauseam (according to others) throughout my first pregnancy and during labour; here’s Time, a soft breeze upon my skin, palpable and invisible. And those are the feet that made me mum.
I leave Big at his desk probing Proverbs 31 for homework. He questions why the tireless Wife does all the work whilst the King looks on? Next I partner Small in the Strictly *Imagined* Come Dancing and win the final. Most pleasurable parenting to date. #StrictlyParenting
So lush to host another writers workshop, witnessing the courage and terror of sharing novels mid-craft, reaching an audience beyond their author. Tables like these are cauldrons simmering with possibility and positivity. #WeWrite @WriteWorkshopNY @edbaileybailey@Susana_Aikin
Help me with my ‘books not to read in public’ wotsit. I’m sat on a train with a very wet face. I can’t cry as hard as I want, not because I feel I shouldn’t (crying is always a good thing) but because I don’t want anyone to feel compelled to silence my howls. What’s your book?
Are you ready to carve out time for your Creativity? Yearning for professional feedback in a relaxed, lively and focused atmosphere? Gift yourself a little time to write. Always. @WriteWorkshopNY @edbaileybailey@PenelopeRawlins @SusieRids @nectariavidal
‘In a passionate ode to love stories and the magic found in a small Italian village, Alexander elevates a simple romance imbuing the epic narrative with the wonders of self discovery.’ Thank you @PublishersWkly! #440Steps@KensingtonBooks @WriteWorkshopNY @HQstories
@ReeceShearsmith and his band of tortured souls was sheer delight last night. You don’t need me to remind you to catch #LeagueOfGentlemenLiveAgain whilst you can, but I will, because it’s a masterclass in comedy craft. Sublime! https://t.co/EvAYTVrsSh
I’m listening to a piece for cello so intimate I can hear the cellist’s breath. Music weaves a helix of experiences with such force, resonating memories, futures dreamt, pasts imagined. It’s reminding me why I needed to write the book I’m editing now. #IAmWriting @WriteWorkshopNY
Delighted to host a third workshop in North West London lead by my wonderful literary agent @WriteWorkshopNY I wouldn't be sculpting my third novel today if I hadn't attended one such on that crisp Manhattan morning of December 2012. Set your story free!
