Have tweeted this before, but my lesson from the Grid/Messenger experience was that if you write stuff on the internet for a living, you should be keeping a backup of your work.
I use Authory but I'm sure there are other methods out there.
@AvQueenBenet Thanks so much for the shout-out! And yes, what happened to the huge FiveThirtyEight archive is exactly why we built Authory. You should never lose access to the work you created yourself.
This is *exactly* why I pay $99 a year to store my stories on @Authory. I’ve had 2 publications close & 2 more that erased my past stories. Authory saves them so they never disappear. I do NOT get anything from Authory; I just want y’all to have a home for your work. #journalism
Thanks for flagging this yesterday!
Quick clarification for anyone following along: The Shorts Nirave mentioned were actually imported automatically but under the standard YouTube video URLs rather than the /shorts/ URLs, which made them appear missing. We’ve since gone through everything together and confirmed all imports are working as expected.
Appreciate you raising it 👍
I am putting a nearly complete archive of my published work online as an @Authory portfolio. This includes my essays on music in @newrepublic in the 1980s. I will gradually be adding my reviews and essays in @nyt as well. Essays will also be grouped by publication: https://t.co/tz5sNZuEgx
@literElly FWIW this is where @Authory shines and they usually honor free trials for those impacted by layoffs or in this case mass publication folds. Highly recommend.
The @IBMSecurity Intelligence publication was closed earlier this year. I didn't lose all my hard work thanks to @Authory 💾
Sadly, I have worked for a lot of brand publications that were shuttered without warning.

“Can you send over a few relevant writing samples?”
It’s a simple request. Until the pieces you’re proudest of disappear from the web.
@kat_boogaard learned this the hard way, and she’s put together a super practical guide with five ways to make sure it never happens to you.

@thetymonbay Thanks for the kind words, and for the input. Added it to our suggestions list 🙌
Btw, you can connect your Authory account to Zapier already, which can help with what you've described: https://t.co/xnzQ0Lab2B
My girlfriend was using my Roccat Savu mouse - which I was shocked to see I reviewed 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒓𝒕𝒆𝒆𝒏 years ago - and it finally kicked the bucket.
Shout out to @Authory for having that review (and 4,857 other pieces) backed up, as it was taken offline!

As a freelancer regularly juggling at least 10 clients, it's hard to stay on top of articles going live. I ❤️ that @Authory emails me when one of my bylined articles goes live. Check out their portfolios for freelancers w/ my link: https://t.co/Jh4ULjay9T
