The Twitter account for the Speaking of Autism... blog. I'm Quincy, 20, and an autism advocate. Author of “Shake it Up!” with @JKPBooks. #ActuallyAutistic
My debut book “Shake it Up!” is now officially out via @JKPBooks. I truly am excited for this first-of-its-kind advocacy guide for autistic teens and young adults, featuring interviews and case studies with 11 young autistic activists from around the world. @JKPAutism
I need to write something about how the high school emphasis on achievement and getting into good universities/getting scholarships has left me with crippling perfectionism and performance anxiety in college.
The answer to ‘how do I make an autistic child eat a meal where the foods are touching and not separate’ is very simple.
Keep the food separate. There is no need to cause them such distress and sensory pain.
@Beyond6S@AutieSpeaking I loved this one. @AutiSpeaking speaks from experience and is purposely talking to the younger autistics about getting their important messages out there. I am looking forward to hearing what they have to say and seeing the changes they bring 💪
@AutisticHelpsU Yeah, although typically someone will call me a friend before I think we’re friends, which I prefer to the alternative of thinking I’m someone’s friend and them thinking otherwise.

Yes I do feel like I can seem more ‘childish’ by neurotypical standards, but that’s because I find joy in very small things and autistic joy is expressed wonderfully, not that autistic people are childlike by nature and should be infantilised. Autistic adults are adults.

@AutismAnecdotes @JKPBooks@JKPAutism It’s available on Kindle through Amazon at the link, however I’ve heard from a few people that the official release of the book in OZ is in October, so I’m interested to see if you can get it now!
