Namibia's coffee market is attracting growing interest from international brands, with new trade data showing the country imported more than N$559 million worth of coffee and coffee-related products between January 2024 and March 2026.
The figures suggest that Namibia is emerging as an increasingly attractive consumer market, despite producing no coffee of its own.
According to the Namibia Statistics Agency, coffee imports reached N$559.4 million over the period, compared to exports of just N$718,702, highlighting the scale of domestic consumption.
Imports rose from N$235.6 million in 2024 to N$268.2 million in 2025, with a further N$55.6 million worth of coffee products entering the country during the first quarter of 2026.
The surge in consumption comes as international coffee brands race to establish a foothold in Namibia's growing café and specialty coffee market.

Government has completed a feasibility study into the possible establishment of a new national airline, tentatively known as Namibia Air, with less than N$800,000 spent on the exercise thus far despite an initial budget allocation of N$20 million.
Works and Transport Minister Veikko Nekundi revealed in the National Assembly that the study has been finalised and is currently under review, marking a significant step in government's efforts to revive a national carrier five years after the liquidation of Air Namibia.
The study was conducted during the current financial year by an inter-ministerial team of experts drawn from government institutions and the aviation sector.
“Therefore, at this stage, unfortunately we are unable to reveal much. However, I can confirm that the feasibility study is done and is now under review. We had budgeted for about N$20 million, of which less than 4% have been utilised to that effect. The study was conducted by the inter-ministerial team of experts; the study was conducted during the current financial year,” Nekundi said.

There is a graduate sitting in a lecture hall right now. Sharp. Driven. Absorbing everything their lecturer is throwing at them.
They will walk out of that institution in a year or two with a qualification that took years to design, approved by committees that met months apart, built on research that was published before half their classmates owned a smartphone.
And the world they are about to enter changed last Tuesday.
This is not an attack on academia. Universities and colleges are not broken, they are just playing a different game to the one industry is playing. The problem is that nobody told the students they were caught in the middle.
Two institutions, two completely different goals
We talk about the skills gap like it is a scheduling problem, like academia just needs to move a little faster and industry needs to be a little more patient and everything will sort itself out. That is a comfortable story and it is also wrong.
