I get a message like this:
"hey got an offer for you - it is $2,450 for 2 hours, 1 yt short highlight, 1 tweet. Game is X game"
I look at the work involved, delivery date, genre, see if it's a mobile gatcha bullshit thing (we don't take those), and then say "yes" or "no".
For that work, lets say my normal "market rate" would be like... $1700. Mythic, almost always, secures me deals for higher than what the industry's "market rate" would be for my work.
So I made more than "normal" by quite a bit. More value for MY time.
If the sales guy sold it to the vendor for $2750? Good for him. He can have the $300. I already got a "bonus" on the deal of $750 above my usual.
Another creator said they take 20%. Instead of $2450 - 20%, it would be $2750 - 20% - a difference of $60 after the rake that I'd take home ($550 fee - $490 fee). That's how much I got "fucked". $60.00 extra.
All this to say I don't believe for a SECOND that Mythic is skimming, but IF THEY WERE I still made more than my "usual" and I was out $60. Damn. I got fucked.
For the work that goes into generating that content in full.. .it's about 5 hours = $550/hour
So i can make $550/hour and focus on making more of that and increase my brand value, or I can focus on how I should've been making $562/hour instead cuz greed, which in turn would take man hours to discover, argue about, and attempt to remedy.
I have way more important things to do, and the witch hunt without any actual receipts is fucking crazy.
@Gigabeef I can recommend Resolve, the free version works really well. As far as I am aware the paid version is mainly some extra transitions and effects, and AI footage upscaling 👍🏻
