@stanaj_h@TexasGuyWDavis@oliverburdick Just remember that God hates the sin and also hates the sinner! See Psalm 5:5 and 11:5. He sends an unrepentant sinner to hell
@WonzoTV@BucksLead When you have the best player on the planet, you try to figure it out. Future draft picks will never equal a player on level with Giannis
@MsCatholicJules@4real_Emenefee@TrevorSheatz A fun theory, but Peter showed no signs of extra authority in the New Testament and was actually rebuked by Paul for sin (Galatians 2:11-14).
Question for you as a Catholic, are you 100% sure you’re on your way to heaven?
@Bi30303Billy@Fonder63@kevindyrun@Michele_Tafoya Right, scripture only for me - for 2 main reasons.
1) according to 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (ESV version) scripture is “complete” so we don’t need anything else
2) Things outside scripture disagree with it. I would never value man’s word over God’s word
@Bi30303Billy@Fonder63@kevindyrun@Michele_Tafoya Does this mean you aren’t refuting that catholic interpretations contradict verses in the Bible? Your response puts the focus on me, meanwhile I’ve been focused on verses
@Bi30303Billy@Fonder63@kevindyrun@Michele_Tafoya The interpretation when looking at all of the Bible together would be that our works SHOW or illustrate that we are saved. Our works do not GIVE us that salvation, that would be in direct disagreement with multiple verses. Only Jesus can save
@Bi30303Billy@Fonder63@kevindyrun@Michele_Tafoya An often misunderstood verse. We must use other parts of the Bible to interpret, because we know the Bible can’t contradict itself. If you interpret that verse as Catholics do, then you are saying the Bible contradicts itself. Happy to discuss further
@_eric_alexander@Rachel4TLM@kevindyrun@Michele_Tafoya If everyone analyzed preaching and checking scripture to make sure what is being said is true, they would see pretty easily that there is no purgatory, and Catholics have an incorrect view of salvation altogether
@_eric_alexander@Michele_Tafoya Also context (in my opinion) is that the synagogue on Berea actually analyzed what Paul was preaching using scripture and saw the truth in what he was saying. And that’s what I’m saying everyone should do to their preaching at church.
@_eric_alexander@Rachel4TLM@kevindyrun@Michele_Tafoya The Bible is in constant agreement with itself, even across hundreds of years and many writers. That is the beauty. It seems you don’t want to believe. I’ll leave you with Romans 10:9, I hope you choose to make the decision in the verse
@_eric_alexander@Rachel4TLM@kevindyrun@Michele_Tafoya “They received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.” Acts 17:11b. This is how Bible-believing Christians should evaluate their church. Good ones are hard to find, but they are there!
