“Con frecuencia, importar ideas novedosas al psicoanálisis equivale a sentenciarlas a una muerte lenta e invisible, porque el ímpetu inmediato es convertir las ideas entrantes en ‘psicoanalíticas’ o ‘aplicarlas’ a la clínica. Semejante movimiento, frecuente y reflexivo, inevitablemente despoja dichas ideas de elementos que son ajenos a la teorización analítica, cuando de hecho ese carácter ajeno es precisamente lo que las hace más vitalizantes para el psicoanálisis. Al igual que el Minotauro, el monstruo mitológico que no es sacrificado como fue decretado, sino que se lo mantiene vivo gracias a un flujo constante de jóvenes que se le envían para su consumo, el psicoanálisis se mantiene vivo en parte metabolizando los tributos del contacto interdisciplinario, apropiándolos en su organismo, canibalizándolos con eficacia para mantenerse con vida. Tal apropiación da la apariencia de un compromiso interdisciplinario, pero no es un reconocimiento sincero, ya que su apuesta radica en preservar la estabilidad estructural del campo. Nosotras sostenemos que, para que el psicoanálisis sobreviva y prospere, tendrá que estar en contacto real con ideas fuera de su dominio.”
