Annual Activity Reports by the youth and women segments of NCE; discussion papers on the experience, foresight and vision of the EPLF on education; ownership of national narrative as an element of strategic communication are some of the main events conducted so far in the ongoing four-day Conference.

Statement by #Eritrea's Delegation at 20th Extraordinary Summit of the African Union Assembly on Health; Accra, 22 July 2026

&"...Eritrea considers health as a fundamental human right. Guided by the principle of social justice, Eritrea is committed to ensuring that every citizen - regardless of where they live - has equitable access to quality healthcare at nominal cost or free of charge".

*"...One of the areas where Eritrea has made significant progress is maternal and newborn health. The country has placed mothers and newborns at the center of its national development agenda through sustained investment in a resilient and expanding healthcare system. Coverage of antenatal care has steadily improved, with the proportion of pregnant women receiving at least one skilled antenatal consultation increasing from 83 percent in 2022 to 87 percent in 2025. Facility-based deliveries also rose significantly - from 73 percent to 85 percent over the same period - reflecting growing confidence in the health system and improved access to skilled birth attendance. At the same time, Eritrea expanded surgical capacity in zonal hospitals, increasing the national Caesarean section rate from 3.8 percent to 6.5 percent by 2025, bringing it within the World Health Organization’s recommended range of 5 to 15 percent".

#FestivalSeason: Eritrean Community in the UK held its annual Festival in the city of Chelmsford from 18-19 July this weekend.

Vibrant themes included: Pavilions show-casing rich cultural/ethnic endowments of the Eritrean people and progress on gender equity; Children's programmes; Seminars by Eritrea's Charge d'Affairs in the UK, Mr. Saleh Abdella, and other Embassy/Eritrean Community officials on topical issues... etc.; as well as Awards to Graduates from several Universities in the UK both in 1st Degree and post-Graduate studies in various academic fields.

Foreign Minister Osman Saleh met in Cairo today his Egyptian counterpart, FM Dr. Badr Abdelatty, for extensive talks on the consolidation of the strategic and historical ties of partnership that exist between the two countries.

The two Foreign Ministers discussed in greater depth current developments in the Horn of Africa and the coordination of the respective positions of both countries on matters of mutual interest.

The Foreign Ministers recalled the meeting between the two Heads of State held in Cairo last month as well as previous exchanges of Ministerial visits between the two countries.

In this regard, Foreign Minister Osman Saleh and his Egyptian counterpart noted that conducive groundwork has indeed been accomplished to elevate the bilateral ties of friendship and cooperation to a new and higher level and thereby augment the benefits and interests of both peoples.

The two Foreign Ministers also underlined that the security and governance of the Red Sea is, in full consonance with international law, the exclusive and normative responsibility of the littoral States.

Foreign Minister Osman Saleh also met in Cairo Mr. Massad Boulos, President Trump's Senior Advisor for Arab and African Affairs, for extensive talks on the enhancement of Eritrea-US bilateral ties as well as on broader regional matters and developments.

The Bastions of Nakfa: Names Etched in Heroism and Sacrifice;

"During the critical period of the Strategic Withdrawal in late 1978, the Eritrean freedom fighters faced a massive enemy force heavily armed with modern Soviet weaponry and backed by foreign military advisors. From every direction, the onslaught intensified; the skies thundered with the relentless roar of fighter jets, while the ground shook under the steady advance of conventional armor....

...While several newly liberated towns fell back into enemy hands under the sheer weight of this asymmetrical firepower, Nakfa stood defiant - the lone urban sanctuary that refused to surrender to the darkness of occupation. Convinced of the absolute justice of their cause, the freedom fighters withdrew into the rugged, familiar mountain ranges surrounding Nakfa in late December 1978. There, they made a solemn, historic pledge: to defend this rocky citadel with their blood and their lives. For more than a decade, these forbidding heights became the stage for epic engagements that transformed Nakfa into the ultimate symbol of Eritrean resilience, determination, and sovereign pride".
