@DesiresAreGrey For me? Mostly hearing how male my voice is and trying and failing to change that feels like shit. People also really only listen to me if I use the male voice and until I visually pass I consider it a kind of pointless effort
@gwiiigwiiiiiii@Ashec3l Aren't you trans? like yeah this shit doesn't work if you're a trans woman or transitioning or actively dysphoric I'm talking about for outside of that lol.
@IEnlois238083 They'd be right.
What we consider sex is socially constructed because a person's sex is normally defined by properties that are not always universally matching (see intersex cases or transsex cases).
You could say chromosomes aren't a social construct, but those alone aren't sex.
@N_0thing_c001@KoTKoharu1@N_othing_cool You don't need to apologise, I wasn't getting into a scrap (internet pissing contest) with the intent of not getting shit back lmfao.
@N_0thing_c001@KoTKoharu1@N_othing_cool Human nature is (in a high-trust society) to believe the things we are told first. Which ofc is an issue in policing where they are dealing with low trust situations.
But all race relations stuff is either in group preference (Novaks officers were afaik white) or cultural.
@N_0thing_c001@KoTKoharu1@N_othing_cool Culture is extremely relevant to how situations are handled, and while Americans sometimes don't realise it, British culture is vastly different to American culture (inasmuch as we can describe a unified American culture).
You have to understand culture far more than human nature
@N_0thing_c001@KoTKoharu1@N_othing_cool As for the taking away at the scene, common sense says in a reported violent incident
A) call an ambulance because someone may be wounded and do basic initial care (ie: check for wounds)
B) detain both parties until basic facts can be ascertained.
@N_0thing_c001@KoTKoharu1@N_othing_cool UK policing entry standards are pure shit (given you've seen me pre-HRT, you have presumably seen the stuff about the RM).
Training and IQ would help, but also their phys standards are dogshit, which enables people who aren't fully committed for the right reasons to slip in.
@N_0thing_c001@KoTKoharu1@N_othing_cool I'm not American, nor was Novak, nor were the police who failed him.
American race relations are something I don't generally care much for. I care about British race relations but there's no point me discussing those with someone who lacks the cultural experience to engage well.
@N_0thing_c001@KoTKoharu1@N_othing_cool We're not actually finding any more common ground on the actual point because I have no interest in debating the morality of violence as an act of protest when the topic at hand is about why police reform that would have saved Novak didn't happen.
@N_0thing_c001@KoTKoharu1@N_othing_cool I think introducing a higher bar for IQ to join the police would be a good idea, and maybe doing something about the attitude of "arrest first ask questions later".
It's not hard to villainize them when they're throwing Nazi salutes and have Nazis among their ranks
