KRA sends me a reminder every month.

Sometimes two.

KRA has never once forgotten what I owe. Not a shilling. Not a day. KRA loves me with the consistency of a debt collector who has memorized my schedule.

But April 16, 2026. The Auditor General reveals that KRA quietly granted illegal penalty waivers on Sh4.76 billion owed by 4,677 taxpayers.

4,677 taxpayers.

Who are these people?

Not Dismas wa Tabu. I can confirm.
Not you reading this. I suspect.
Not the mama mboga in Gikomba.
Not the boda boda in Kisumu.
Not the teacher whose salary is deducted before it arrives.

4,677 people owed Sh4.76 billion and KRA looked at the file.

Then looked away.

The same KRA that sends final notices. That garnishes accounts. That shows up with the energy of a man who has never heard of mercy.

Showed mercy.

To 4,677 people.

Without a repayment plan.
Without amnesty rules being followed.
Without telling you.

The question is not whether this happened.

The question is whose names are on that list.

And why nobody is printing the list.

Someone has sent me this in the DM:

My friend’s son travelled to Qatar last month alongside several other young men, all of whom met for the first time at the airport. They had applied for jobs through a so-called "agency" they found advertising opportunities on social media. They paid through M-PESA—some KSh 200,000, others KSh 180,000 or KSh 150,000—depending on the job promise.

But upon arrival in Qatar, the harsh reality hit: the agency was fake. Worse still, it operates under multiple names. After my friend’s son raised the alarm, she tried calling the agency. They dismissed her and said they didn’t care. That same night, her son was removed from the group accommodation in Street 55, Industrial Area, and taken by a Cameroonian man known as AKON (📞[phone]) to Najma, Kuwait Building, then abandoned without rent paid.

The caretaker later evicted the boy. Police coincidentally arrived at the same accommodation and ordered everyone to vacate. The caretaker fled. Desperate, the boy sought help at the Kenyan Embassy. The embassy managed to contact the woman behind this scam—Teresia Nyambura (📞[phone] / [phone])—who rudely told them she wouldn't help and hung up.

Why hasn’t this woman been arrested?

She refused to return the boy’s ID, making him undocumented in a foreign country. The embassy gave him a small bus fare to find any Kenyan who could host him until Sunday. When he returned to the embassy, he was told to report to the police. The police took him to the deportation centre. Since then—his phone has been off. The family has no idea where he is or what has happened to him.

What’s even more painful is that:

The Labour CS, and PS Roselyn have been notified—through calls, emails, and texts.

The scammer, Teresia, continues to operate openly, still advertising, still recruiting.

She brags of powerful connections in the embassy and Labour Ministry.

She claims the boy "ran away" and says she doesn't care.

Despite multiple victims, this woman remains free.

The family is demanding answers from the Kenyan Embassy in Qatar and the Ministry of Labour in Nairobi. How many more young Kenyans must suffer or go missing before action is taken?
