Last Monday 100 CEOs of European digital/tech companies wrote to EC @vonderleyen & @HennaVirkkunen to offer support for a #digital_sovereignty strategy.

The vibe shift in Europe is huge: after Paris, Munich & the Oval Office scenes, with uplift from the German “fiscal bazooka”, Europe finally gets it must be doing its thing.

Cannot just regulate ourselves out of a laggard position. As per Mario Draghi: defence and digital infrastructure investments are deeply linked. Dual use.

This week, during the @Europarl_EN plenary session in Strasbourg, the @GSMA and @connecteuropex together with their members met with Members of the European Parliament to delve into Europe's #connectivity agenda. Our discussions centered around the progress towards the digital decade and the pivotal role the European Parliament will play in propelling Europe's digital transformation forward.

A key highlight was the call to action for the recommendations outlined in the high-level reports by Enrico Letta and Mario Draghi. It was strongly emphasized that these recommendations must be implemented to deliver the digital infrastructure Europe needs to maintain its competitive edge. Furthermore, we tackled the challenges posed by the complex European regulatory system, which often discourages large-scale network investments, contrary to Europe’s broader goals. The need for changes in this area was a critical point of discussion.

We thank MEPs @tsvetypenkova and @AxelVossMdEP for hosting us at the European Parliament and for the engaging and insightful exchange together with @s_yoncourtin .
