This week, the Director General of Rwanda FDA, Prof. @emilebienvenu, participated in the African Health Exhibition and Conference (#AfricaHealthExCon2026) in Egypt and held a series of engagements aimed at strengthening regulatory cooperation and advancing pharmaceutical development.
During the visit, the Director General held bilateral discussions with Dr. Ali El-Ghamrawy, Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), on priority areas for implementing the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Rwanda FDA and EDA in August 2024, as well as the Joint Recognition Framework for Medicines signed in January 2026.
The visit also included a tour of EDA laboratories to gain insights into regulatory and quality control systems and explore opportunities for enhanced technical collaboration.

Rwanda FDA is hosting a delegation from the Federal Republic of Somalia, comprising Members of Parliament from the Social Affairs and Health Committees, and the Somalia Interim National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA), for a three-day benchmarking visit.
Today, Rwanda FDA and the Botswana Medicines Regulatory Authority (BoMRA) signed an MoU to strengthen collaboration in the regulation of medicines and vaccines. This follows a five-day study tour of the BoMRA team to @RwandaFDA, aimed at fostering knowledge exchange and regulatory harmonization between the two institutions.
