Sophie Cunningham will probably get fined for this, which only proves the point.
She defended Caitlin Clark, called out the league and the refs, and clearly said what fans have been saying for weeks.
She even laughed about the poster situation and why she was chosen instead of Caitlin.
So no, this is not just โcrazy fansโ making things up anymore.
When players inside the league are saying the same thing, it is not a conspiracy.
It is a problem.
Phoenix Mercury HC Nate Tibbetts defended Alyssa Thomas, who was suspended for punching Caitlin Clark in the throat, ahead of today's game:
โIโm disappointed with the suspension process by our league & our leaders in the W. This was not a thorough investigation in my opinion."
It's insane to defend her actions...
During the game, after a scuffle between Caitlin Clark (Fever) and DeWanna Bonner, Sophie Cunningham stepped in to defend her teammate.
Instead of getting physical, she raised her arm and pointed one finger (a long, stiff index finger) directly at Bonner while staring her down.
She held the frozen point for roughly 22 seconds without moving, with a deadpan expression.
She received a technical foul, but the moment exploded online.
Sophie Cunningham on Caitlin Clark being assaulted on the basketball court:
"None of us saw that happen in real time, but if we did we would have had her back. They're definitely targeting her and the league and the refs do nothing to protect her."
This is still making my blood boil, and the fact that not one NBA player white or black has come to the defense of Caitlin and how she is being treated in the WNBA, makes me hate that league even more than I already do!
