The "Megami Tensei" project— novel, OVA, and video game—began in 1985. Only two people who know everything about those days are still alive today, including myself. Feeling that I must write it down now, I contributed an article to Gingakikaku's “Asobi no Idea Chronicle Vol. 3”. It is planned to be a serialized column.

The novel Megami Tensei doesn’t disclose the dates on which most of its events take place. However, it explicitly states only one specific date: July 13th, the day Nakajima and Izanami fought the devil Loki, resulting in Loki's defeat. That said, since the battle occurred deep underground in the Asuka region, it might have already been July 14th by the time Loki actually died.
In 2021, Hideo Kojima predicted that a future built entirely around digital media could leave people without access to the content they thought they owned if companies or external events changed how that content was distributed.
“Eventually, even digital data will no longer be owned by individuals on their own initiative. Whenever there is a major change or accident in the world, in a country, in a government, in an idea, or in a trend, access to it may suddenly be cut off.”
“We will not be able to freely access the movies, books, and music that we have loved. I would be a have-not. That’s what I’m afraid of. This is not greed.”
By the end of this month, I will upload my English translation of "Megami Tensei." However, this was done just to help the translator understand my Japanese before the official translation began. Therefore, I don’t plan to keep it up for long. I’ll upload and delete it all within this month. Please wait for the officially translated book to come out!
