A thread for the ultra-wealthy.
If you are wealthy, you may think that if the U.K. switches from an NHS-model to a private model of healthcare it will either a) be better for you, or b) will not affect you.
Here is why you are wrong…

“It’s not a cost of living crisis…it’s a cost of Conservatives crisis”
Anti-poverty campaigner Jack Monroe says the cost of living crisis hasn't "fallen out of a clear blue sky" but is the result of stripping back on public services

This is not a new thing. It has been known for a good few years and yet still IAPT claims a 50% recovery rate and continues to attract millions of pounds of funding.
@mazfpsych “London. Where are you from?” Usually shooting the question straight back throws them off the course of “no, where are you really from?” Think it depends on the situation though. Haven’t yet found a response that feels satisfying.
The Valued Voices Mentoring Scheme supports racially minoritized aspiring Clinical Psychologists based in the London and South-East region, onto training. They are now recruiting Qualified Clinical Psychologists and Trainees as mentors. The sign up links (👇)have more information
@aramtiaz DClin definitely forces you to make choices about what you have time to prioritise. I went from living with my partner to a LDR. It was difficult at times but our relationship is still strong, you’ll figure out a new routine together 😊
A chance to connect with the community of Black DClinPsy trainees. Also open to 2022 incoming trainees and those who’ve recently qualified. Feel free to share! Please contact @IndieTams, @ComfortC0 or myself for further deets. RT 🖤✨
@AliceNewton_ I’m sorry you had this experience, I hate the “demands of training” narrative! DClin courses are largely inaccessible and seem to disregard changes they can make to encourage a wider diversity of trainees under the guise of “but it’s a demanding doctoral course”
@martamacky I guess it depends on where you’re moving and any others factors e.g. the type of accommodation you need. I had to move for training and I think I left it too close to my starting date. I would give yourself as much time as possible to settle in 😊
Not to mention that the pandemic isn’t over for thousands of health and social care professionals who continue to hold the trauma of our service users and colleagues, alongside our own. Angry doesn’t begin to cover it.
There is *truly* no better irony than the updated DSM-5 creating a medical diagnosis for prolonged grief in a country that refuses to face it’s own present reality with mass death. AKA, “you have an illness if you can’t get on with life like the rest of us.”
