The Rays went lefty heavy tonight, that would’ve been a great opportunity to use Drew Anderson out of the bullpen, but you can’t because he threw 35 pitches yesterday in a game he should’ve never pitched in.
This might be the game that breaks the camels (my) back…
Wait a month to get Kerry back & he gets two at bats & is removed for a guy who’s 2 for his last 29…
Keider absolutely cruising & he goes to the worst bullpen in baseball after 65 pitches.
Not sure how much more of this stupid tinkering I can watch.
It’s the single dumbest move that AJ has made as a manager here. You have a starter averaging under 11 pitches per inning saving you from having to use any pieces from your dumpster fire pen.
Pulled after 6. It doesn’t pass the eye test, and it doesn’t really make sense analytically.
@EatEmUpPod@aurban91@hostedbyjhall How many players should we expect to see moved at the deadline?
I’m thinking Skubal and a healthy Gleyber. Then maybe one of Mize (hoping he’s brought back), Flaherty or Finnegan?
@JimCosta_@134890642134a Maybe if Hinch would let him play a full game and play the field and not hamstring him in every way possible we’d be able to see what he can really do.
It’s near impossible to thrive in the role he’s been forced into
Spencer Torkelson had a random hot week in late April where he hit 5 home runs, including 3 at a hitters park in Cincinnati. If you remove that stretch, here’s what his numbers look like.
27-156 (.135 BA)
.257 OBP
.218 SLG
.475 OPS
2 HR
14 RBI
24 walks
61 strikeouts
I just don’t watch anymore. Basketball is my favorite sport. Always has been. This is the supposed to be the highest level of the game. Players are more skilled than ever, and it’s a terrible product. I enjoy college better, and high school is my favorite level to watch honestly.
Tigers making roster decisions:
“Okay so this guy can’t field, throw or hit, has zero power, doesn’t draw walks and there are definitely better options”
So we’ll send him down right?
@EatEmUpPod you nailed it on the pod today.
AJ Pinch is over-managing to an extreme. Tigers pinch hitters this year:
.153 AVG
.505 OPS
That’s good for a league worst WAR amongst pinch hitters.
Kind of surprised going with Gage Workman as the pinch-hitter in the third inning instead of Colt Keith.
And, yes, I thought that before Workman struck out on three pitches with the bases loaded.
RHP Brenan Hanifee will be the opener tonight for the Tigers. RHP Ty Madden had been listed as the starter, but he will now pitch in bulk relief for a third time this season.
