Translation:

Had to contact the warranty service because a small line appeared on the screen of a TV we bought from Damro. (Honestly, not even sure if it was there when we bought it we’re not the type to inspect stuff that carefully before buying).

First, I called the hotline, but it was busy, so I just hung up thinking, “It’s only a tiny line anyway.” Then out of nowhere, they actually called me back 😅. Didn’t expect a hotline to call back like that.

After explaining the issue, I asked whether I needed to take the TV back to the branch where I bought it, or if I could just hand it over at the nearest Damro branch. They said none of that was necessary they’d come home and pick it up themselves.

Since the kids would’ve caused absolute chaos without a TV, we had cleaned up and set up the old TV again. But then these guys came, took our TV, and left another TV of the same type for us to use in the meantime 😅😅.

No need to even mention that they repaired it and brought it back home too.

Now if they had brought some rice and kottu for the house on their way back and forth, that would’ve completed the service 😂.

Now that’s what you call a proper warranty 😇😇

This Rajapaksa Era saw some of the most destructive corruption this country has ever seen.

Emirates managed the airline until 31 March 2008.

In the last year under Emirates the airline made about Rs 4.4 billion in profit.

The government took control on 1 April 2008 and in the very first year the airline swung to a Rs 9.3 billion loss, a Rs 13.7 billion swing in the wrong direction almost immediately.

Kapila Chandrasena (extended family member of MR) joined the board in December 2008, became CEO in 2011, and the largest single-year loss of about Rs 32 billion came under his watch.

By 2015 accumulated losses had crossed Rs 128 billion.

So what materially changed? Absolutely nothing other than who was running the airline cos the aircraft were the same, the routes were the same and ground handling and catering were still monopolies.

There is no clearer case to illustrate the cost of corruption and state capture by the Rajapaksa family.

Also remember… the Air Lanka/Airbus scandal and the MiG deal were two of the biggest corruption scandals of that era, both reported on fearlessly by Lasantha Wickrematunge, who may well have paid with his life for it.

So it's about time for these Rajapaksa era operators to finally face justice.. And maybe if the thread is pulled effectively we might see who enabled this corruption cos I am sure it didn't stop at Kapila Chandrasena.
