"New protections for children affected by domestic abuse - so victims can come forward 'with confidence'."
It's been decided children will be treated as victims even if they were not present during violent incidents.

@PViaterLawyer@DrEmmaKatz If it were money laundering, this would be classed as being a professional enabler. Why is coercive control any different? It’s also illegal.
'If there is a constant atmosphere of fear, children are unable to be sheltered from that.
And, Dr Katz points out, even if a mother leaves, the family might be subject to forms of post-separation abuse.'

There is no word in the English language to describe the extreme levels of physical & mental distress people feel
when they are begging systems to keep their child safe & the systems are punishing them for their efforts, not helping them, & this goes on for years.
No word.
I want to encourage folks following me to use the hashtag #FixSystemsNotSurvivors often. It sends the message that #DVInformed systems do not pathologize survivors but instead focus on identifying their own practice and policy deficits and fixing them.
“In any kind of relationship, displays of love help you feel safe and secure.” Abusive partners may appear as the ideal partner by showering a survivor with gifts and grand displays of affection, but this isn't always healthy. Find out how you can tell ⬇️

Currently not all sixth forms or colleges teach students about #DomesticAbuse. This is leaving young women vulnerable and at risk of experiencing #CoerciveControl. We're supporting the @TeachDV campaign to #MakeItMandatory. Add your name>> https://t.co/hXud8BsK1w
We are delighted to partner with Refuge on this important campaign that is very close to my heart .
All young people should have access to adequate education on domestic abuse and we hope that the government will make it a mandatory teaching requirement for all 16-19 year olds.
