Yerevan’s passport, carved into stone at Haghartsin Monastery.
Armenian monasteries often pass on important information to us.
We usually refer to Argishti I’s cuneiform inscription as Yerevan’s passport. But one of the world’s oldest cities cannot be satisfied with just a single passport.
I was simply astonished one day when I noticed the word “Yerevan” carved on the narthex of St. Gregory Church.
Those who insist on calling it “Irevan” perhaps have yet another reason to oppose the Armenian Church. Yet the inscription makes it clear that in the tenth century, Yerevan was known for its magnificent gardens. I dream that one day our capital will once again be like that.
The wealthy benefactors of that era were exemplary as well. Ivane Zakarian donated his Yerevan garden to the flourishing of Haghartsin Monastery, in memory of his brother Zakare Zakarian. That is precisely what this thousand-year-old inscription tells us, eternally preserving the Armenian-written word “Yerevan.”
The U.S. vice president is being escorted by helicopter in Yerevan.
Footage published by Sputnik shows a helicopter flying over Isakov Avenue and later circling the airspace above the presidential residence.

It takes 100 red berets to take down a single ARF parliamentarian. That’s because Nikol, his police, his supporters, and his sympathizers are not only cowards, but aren’t even men.
