2017 has been a productive year for all of us, thanks to the tireless Warga Prasarana. Here’s to an even greater 2018 for Prasarana and for Malaysia. Together, we can. Happy holiday, and happy new year.
To promote the development of local talents in the public transport industry, Prasarana has established strategic partnerships with UiTM and UniKL. We are also providing cooperation and support to Politeknik Seberang Perai.
On the local front, Prasarana continues our role in transforming urban transport in Penang. We’re currently in the process of taking over Rapid Ferry – an iconic symbol of Penang.
Prasarana has also safely and successfully operated the MMMSL Makkah Metro line this year - receiving acclaims from Saudi authorities. Our international presence continues to grow, and we have also established a strategic partnership with Jakarta MRT.
The transformation of public transport has also extended to RapidKL’s LRT lines. 14 new, high-tech Bombardier Innovia 300 trains have been added to the KJ Line this year. This provides greater comfort and convenience to LRT users.
2017 has been an important year in Msia’s public transport transformation. Sg Buloh-Kajang MRT began full operations in July. The MRT line provides vital urban rail link to areas previously underserved by the LRT, such as Damansara, Cheras & Kajang.
Apart from her expertise in rail business, Datin Norlia is also known to be a great cook. “I enjoy cooking, especially for my husband. If I wasn’t in the rail business, I would’ve probably opened a restaurant by now to further my passion.”
On the involvement of women in the traditionally male-dominated rail industry, Datin Norlia opined, “Women have the capability to succeed in this field too, as long as they possess the required knowledge and technical know-how. Knowledge is king”.
As a head of department, Datin Norlia practises the culture of openness in the office. She believes in the importance of having a harmonious and conducive office environment to foster greater productivity. “Here, we work like a big family”, she added.
Datin Hjh Norlia Noah heads the Rail Capex Department of PRIME, a subsidiary of Prasarana. She has over 22 yrs of experience in the rail industry, serving various companies which include a Japanese rail firm. Datin Norlia was also behind the development of STAR LRT (Ampang Line).
Thank you for supporting the public transport. Sungai Buloh-Kajang MRT line covers various areas previously underserved by urban rail. The line is integrated with the LRT via Maluri, Pasar Seni, Merdeka & Muzium Negara stations. Jom naik MRT.
In agreement with her husband, Datin Zaini added, “With the LRT & MRT, I don’t have to drive anymore. Parking is always a hassle.” The couple also talked about planning a satay Kajang trip with their family and friends soon.
Datuk Abdul Karim recalled, “When I was posted to the UK in the early 70s, I took the train everyday. One time, I slept on the train & I travelled to the end of the line! KL’s train system is not as extensive as in London yet, but having the MRT is a step in the right direction”
