I talked about electricity, and others, they focus only on electricity, aside Band A, there's still subsidy on other Bands. Which govt said will be discontinued next year.

@seun_sapphire @DrJoeAbah Well, my network doesn't charge this, because my bank details each I recharge only the amount recharge, transaction charges with no VAT details. I either recharge with Sterling bank account or Aella MFB account, and none of the two banks charge VAT on every recharged

@egi_nupe In September 2022, Court of Appeal Makurdi rules that @officialEFCC can freeze state account up to 72hrs. I expected Governor Otom then to pursue the case up to Supreme Court, but he didn't. At least, Nigeria would have final verdict on this.

@SirJarus Ogun state is just so surprising, considering huge industrial hubs in Sagamu, Otta, Ifo, etc. whose workers are heavy consumers of most "vatable" goods and services. I think collections and remittance is the issue here. So, more education is required to enlighten business owners.

This is more or less a simple legal issue. The contract has been entered and must be honored, “pacta sunt servanda” (every contract must be kept). In fact the 150 bags of cement are no longer that is the vendor and he cannot sell those goods already paid for. The buyer is entitled to the 150 bags without additional fees attached to the goods (even when the market value has changed). The case of BILANTE INTERNATIONAL LTD v. NDIC (2011) is very instructive here, where the Supreme Court held that parties are bound by their terms of their agreement and court will not rewrite contracts for parties.

However, the only reasonable demand from the seller is to ask for reasonable fees for keeping the goods for the buyer for that 4 months and nothing more.

The seller demands in this instance is mischievous and unreasonable. This case whether real or hypothetical represents what Nigeria business people always do, they try to use every means to extort their customers.
