Katie should still be alive. She should be here with me.
I should be able to call her, hear her voice, watch her grow, and see the life she was meant to live.
Instead, a life we never chose was thrust upon us, and I am left trying to find my place in a world that was never supposed to exist without her in it.
We talk about intentions. We debate policies. We measure benefits. We cite numbers.
But what happens when the risks become real and someone has to live with the cost?
Two people died that night. Three others were seriously injured. Those are facts, but numbers cannot tell you what was lost, or what the families left behind will carry for the rest of their lives.
Katie was needed in this life. She was needed by her family. I needed her.
This is about the space between decisions and consequences, and the human costs that can disappear when we focus only on intended outcomes.
Behind every number is a name.

The utter irony of a muslim Arab complaining about indigenous rights, as if his ancestors didn't wipe out and colonise entire civilisations in the Middle East.
I can’t wrap my mind around how many people around the world see Gazans as the victims after they wasted decades and billions of dollars building the biggest terror tunnel network in history to kidnap and murder Jews
Where is the world’s moral clarity when it is needed the most?
Why did Katie have to die?
Where was the wisdom in the immigration and sanctuary policies that helped create the conditions surrounding her death?
Bad ideas sold as good ideas are dangerous.
Because ideas have consequences.
They become policies.
Policies shape institutions.
And eventually, those choices reach real people.
For me, that is no longer theoretical.
I wrote about that journey in Townhall today.
“The Long Road From Ideas to Consequences.”

@KenPaxtonTX The "intended parents" should be barred from any adoptions whatsoever if they are advocating for the death of this child via abortion or withholding care when born. IMHO.
This scammer owns 3 homes around the world LMAO.
Literally all of these commies are scammers LARPing as victims of capitalism because they think you’re dumb.
In January of 2024, delivery driver Muhammad Faizan Khan dropped off groceries at a home in Glasgow. He then forced his way inside the residence and sexually assaulted the female homeowner so violently that she miscarried days later.
Let me be clear: this man invaded a woman’s home, pinned her up against a wall, and manually penetrated her so forcibly that he killed her baby.
They gave him 12 months.
The British government penalized angry tweets twice as harshly as the sexual assault of a pregnant woman and the violent murder of her unborn child.
There’s really nothing else to say.
Found out Democrat leadership has instructed their members NOT to sign onto our bill that would cap student loan interest at 2%… because it would make “Republicans” look good ahead of the midterms. So much for caring about people and education.
.@GadSaad, can Illinois still be saved, or is it too late?
What can the peasants like us really do to get out from under the thumb of @GovPritzker, other than moving somewhere else?
A governor backed by inherited family wealth.
A long-established political machine.
A media culture that acts more like a lapdog than a watchdog, less interested in truth-telling than in protecting their team's prevailing narrative.
Policies that have reshaped the state's demographics without enough attention to their long-term consequences.
Hasn't Illinois become the perfect example of what you call “suicidal empathy," compassion detached from wisdom, accountability, and the consequences for the very people government is supposed to protect?
It helped cost my daughter Katie her life.
It has cost our family our lives as we knew them.
Have we passed the point of no return?
For anyone telling me to take it easy on the Islamists:
I was a lieutenant in the NYPD.
I worked “Free Palestine” rallies.
They *always* devolved into anti-cop, anti-America, pro-Hamas, pro-“Globalize the intifada” melees. I watched them even turn on Muslim cops, who thought they somehow had a pass. They figured out what I knew during the BLM riots in 2020; they see blue and nothing else. Those are not your “people.” They want dominance and control; nothing less.
I got out before Mamdani really got to start working. Friends still on the job know the worst is yet to come once him and his Islamist DSA buddies take over.
You don’t know what you’re electing into office. Wake up now before it’s too late.
Can President Trump PLEASE give the Presidential Medal of Freedom to the Amish for their amazing work rebuilding Western North Carolina?
They have literally rebuilt HUNDREDS of bridges, homes, businesses, and roads... and are STILL HERE!!!
No group deserves it more.
