@JohanzelV I really liked the part around the 1 minute mark where that guy on the right shut the other 3 up by talking sense about the moves MS/XBOX made here. That really took the fun out of the circle jerk of hopes & dreams of MS selling off XBOX & its IP's.
If you are a Halo fan, this is the best news in a decade plus. 💪
Rob Kostich, Dave Stohl, Pat Kelly and team at Activision are rock star, old school game developers. Non-political, no bullshit - just flat out Halo at its best. They are not afraid to take risks and deliver a Halo experience that blows people away and sets the stage for the next 10+ years.
This is the best decision to reset Halo and get a new, hungry team in place to make Halo the incredible asset it is. I can't wait to see them lead their teams and bring Halo back in full force.
Props to Xbox for making this decision. LFG! 🥳
BREAKING: I guess that July rumor I had about Halo going under Activision wasn't so crazy after all.
Activision is building a new team to build Halo games, Obsidian is going under Bethesda, and Ninja Theory acquisitions fell through.

Xbox Reset Continues
• Lay-offs across Halo Studios
• Obsidian is under Bethesda
• Playground & Turn 10 Merge
• Halo Studios moved to Activision Blizzard for next Game
• Agreements for Ninja Theory fell through, looking for options but closure likely
BREAKING: Activision is taking over Halo as part of a massive Xbox shake-up and more layoffs. Sea of Thieves developers Rare are moving to Activision, alongside World’s Edge, the studio behind the Age of Empires franchise. Full details 👇 https://t.co/YNXk2MyNwH
As part of our ongoing reset, Matt Booty just sent an email to our team covering role reductions, a reorganization of several of our studios, and updates on our divestitures.

Xbox - "Continuing Our Reset" - 'First, we are eliminating 268 roles across Halo Studios, other first-party studios, and the XGS management and central functions layer.'
Activision will expand its remit to World’s Edge, as well as Rare. Activision will also be developing the next Halo title, led by a new, purpose-built team that is separate from ongoing development and plans for Call of Duty. A small team at Halo Studios will continue supporting the Halo community and games in-market.
Bethesda will expand its remit to include Obsidian, which will continue its current projects, including Grounded, as well as the new Fallout project made in collaboration with Bethesda Game Studios.
King will expand its remit to include Microsoft Casual Games, uniting our two global leaders in casual game design and live operations.
Playground and Turn 10 will come together as one studio focused on the Forza and Fable franchises. These two studios have been creative and franchise partners for over a decade, and today’s changes will formally move their work into one team.

I’ve deliberately held off on Kojima’s latest comments until the dust had settled a little. There’s a lot to unpack in what he said about Sony, PHYSINT and his relationship with PlayStation.
For me, the important distinction is that I don’t think his comments about that relationship can simply be dismissed as corporate PR. Kojima went to Sony for a reason, and it’s clear there’s still a personal affinity there. In fact, Kojima Productions itself has been explicit that its “relationship with PlayStation remains strong.” Sony choosing to step away from PHYSINT doesn’t suddenly erase that connection.
Then comes the part that puts the ball firmly in XBOX’s court: PHYSINT’s platform status isn’t Kojima’s decision to make. When asked whether it would still come to PlayStation, he essentially said that was a question for XBOX, while acknowledging Microsoft’s desire to reach as many gamers as possible, regardless of platform. The final decision, he said, will come later.
I’m hoping @asha_shar makes the call that puts XBOX players first. Until then, I’d rather wait for something definitive than speculate about where PHYSINT ultimately lands.
@AE06northstar@Nick_Marseil Sony/PS want it ONLY on their console, Nowhere else.
MS/XBOX are happy as long as it launches day 1 on their console, Even if that means launching on others, Too.
Thats the difference... 🤦♂️
EXCLUSIVE:
Microsoft is asking fans whether they want the next-generation Xbox to support physical media, Power Up Gaming understands.
A survey that has recently gone live on the Xbox Insider Hub app suggests that the company has yet to decide if the next Xbox will have a disc drive. Images showing portions of the survey can be seen below.

You may have seen a recent article that mentions KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS, speculating on the reasons for the change in publishing partners for PHYSINT.
Normally, we would not comment on unsubstantiated speculation on the internet, but these aspersions around our relationship with PlayStation, the commercial performance of the DEATH STRANDING franchise, and the broader production planning and investment for PHYSINT, have reached beyond the studio and have touched our fans, our creative partners, and colleagues we have worked alongside with for three decades.
None of the claims written came from any official or on-the-record source and as such we encourage you to take them with a dose of scepticism.
Make no mistake, this was a serious situation for the studio with a range of potentially significant implications. While we recognise that the article may have caused alarm, we want to reassure you all, for the record: that the studio is in a healthy, profitable state, development for PHYSINT continues to move forward with XBOX, and our relationship with PlayStation remains strong.
Thank you for your continued support,
KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS
