@BayouPhilosophy The intuitive paradigm is a bunch of superficial nonsense that mostly stays out of the picture entirely, and has little to no relevance, nor is particularly coherent. Having said that, since you ask, something like a ghost in the machine.
@ave_katerina@hiver_nucleaire Вообще это одесское изобретение, и производственные линии были по всей Украине, остаются местами и сейчас. Много в Виннице делали.
@DoctorLockwood @TennantRob@DanaramaSF@DrDavidLey@xavierbonilla87 Article also states the J-P dichotomy was newly introduced by MB and additional to Jung's schema — it is not, it's only a renaming of what Jung called 'rational' and 'irrational' functions, which became confusing for anglo people, as they misunderstood the meaning of these terms.
@DoctorLockwood @TennantRob@DanaramaSF@DrDavidLey@xavierbonilla87 This article claims, among other things, that 'modern conceptualizations of empirical verification and falsification' didn't exist until Popper and Jung had no access to anything like them. This understanding of science doesn't seem very serious.
@fosgenij И конечно, у одной стороны бывает только одно, а у другой только другое, даже когда выглядит по итогам одинаково. МО РФ уже сказало, кстати, что все сбили и падали обломки.
@dan_star@morallawwithin Lying IS always wrong as such, but sometimes all that's on offer are wrongs. That doesn't make one of the wrongs 'right', just perhaps more preferrable (Kant didn't write much about conflict of duties except to note that they are never suspended by each other)
@GuilleNavarroM @dan_sinykin Commentary on the quality of either Bourdieu or the nameless sociologists, or just a matter of fact observation of the scientific praxis? You decide!
@keithfrankish This is also the Tractarian stance -- 'Objects contain the possibility of all situations'. And what they don't contain, is what is not (conceptually) possible.
@keithfrankish That's just what the content of the concept is, isn't it? It is in the concept of the bus, that it can travel on any road, not just the one it is actually travelling on. The concept of the bus does not permit it being plane-shaped and flying from airport to airport.
@dioscuri@keithfrankish Both 'possibility' and 'concept' are really tough philosophical terms at high levels of abstraction for which there is nothing like an agreed account. 'Conceptual possibility' is just wild. Alternatives to 'yes' are well-accredited in historical and contemporary thought.
@DrPatrickLinden @BayouPhilosophy Plenty, my favourite is the status of 'laws of nature' and things like physical mechanics. Peak discussion around 6.34
@freganmitts@KnitIndustrie If that's the framing, maybe Houlgate's introduction to Hegel would be an appropriate set text — he explicitly spends a page or two on Hegel vis-a-vis evolution.
@freganmitts I imagine a math course, where people 'spend two weeks on Cauchy' to follow up with some weeks 'on Riemann'. Is there any hope at all for this approach? Well, the section on Civil Society from Phil of Right is probably one of the more self-contained and approachable pieces.
@mythanthrope So if these terms and concepts can be independently developed, where is the irony? Is it like, a Christian developed steel, and satanists use steel, but steel only exists in the West the way it does because of a Christian, ironic? Your point is seriously hard to understand is all
@mythanthrope Is it your suggestion that the Indians, the Chinese and the Japanese (to name just a few) managed to build up elaborate civilizations without developing concepts of reason, justice and compassion? You need Aristotle and Christ for that? Just what?
@Meaningness The 'fundamental substrate' referenced in the quote is exactly the same purely hypothetical generative structure reconstructed downstream from experience. This continuous reconstruction from the result to the alleged source is all we have, and that's not a bug.
