In July 1966, Richard Speck broke into a Chicago townhouse and murdered 8 student nurses one by one. One survived by hiding under a bunk bed for 3 hours while she listened to her friends die. The crime is considered the moment that started the modern era of mass murder in America.
He died in prison in 1991. Three years before his death, a camera was smuggled into Stateville maximum security prison and filmed something that was never meant to leave those walls. The tape ended up in a lawyer's hands as payment for a debt. Then one morning a Chicago news anchor found it sitting in his mailbox.
In the video below, Richard Speck confesses on camera to everything he spent 30 years claiming he couldn't remember.
For three decades his defense was simple: he remembered nothing about the night he killed 8 women. That was his story in court. That was his story in every interview.
On the secret tape he tells a completely different one.
He describes how it started. A third-rate burglary on East 100th Street. Nine nursing students, one month from graduation. He bound and gagged all of them. Then one spat in his face.
That's when everything changed.
He went room by room. One by one. Eight women dead by morning. The ninth crawled under a bunk bed and didn't make a sound for three hours. Speck lost count. Forgot she was there. Walked out without realizing she was still alive.
She was the one who put him away.
Thirty years of silence. Then an envelope showed up in a mailbox and changed everything.
Was Richard Speck the face of pure evil, or just the first name in a long list America never wanted to read?
@TexansCommenter He isnβt lightening fast vertically, but this boy can sure run around you at full speed which is vicious. His vision and elusiveness is off the chart.
@TexansCommenter I may be a odd one, but I always wanted the Texans to find their own Vince Wilfork in a draft. Someone his size and power. The amount of weight lifted off the defense because of that Mountain standing there in the middle.
@sciencegirl Wrinkles are caused by oxidation. You can slow the process by cleaning up your diet, eating healthier and exercise. Youβll not only look younger/ healthier but youβll also feel it too.
