@2qert2@BuriedCloud@beforeikrash nd that’s 100% true lmao that sound that both of them had was on the rise in 16 and 17. there’s a lot of unnamed rappers who did the same going as far back as 14. Tay k is only in the conversation because most people listened to Santana and thought his story was crazy
@BuriedCloud@beforeikrash i was actually a fan of both, i’ve been up to date on both their situations public and non for years 😂 Comethazine started popping out after the Tay K comparisons, and he didn’t only get bored of himself but fans did too, every other project was pretty good but it doesn’t last
Fun fact, this soundtrack is from a film that is now lost media! It was directed by and stars Bahamian actor Calvin lockhart, (my cousin yes I’m flexing) and Jamaican composer Boris Gardner. It’s about a Jamaican man returning back to his home to meet famous reggae bands and that’s all we know, along with the sound track.
apparently it was so shocking that almost everyone in the theaters got up and walked out at the time, and it was only released in the Bahamas and Jamaica, but he made it as a reclamation of black creativity and power, aiming to take away the legacy of the word “nigger” and change its meaning.
