Hundreds of soldiers descended on our home in Magere last night. Most were dressed in SFC uniforms while others were in regular UPDF uniforms and others in plain clothes. Many of them were drunk. They came with ladders, ready to climb upstairs. They broke our doors and forced themselves into our house. Using hammers, they hit walls, window glasses, and doors. They put my wife on gunpoint, asking her to reveal my whereabouts. They stole money, numerous valuable documents, and all electronic gadgets. They took phones, laptops, chargers, our internet system, our CCTV system, speakers, and any electronic gadget they could lay their criminal hands on. They entered every part of our house, including the ceiling, and left so much destruction everywhere. They grabbed my wife's phone, forced her to sit down, and ordered her to remove her password. She refused. They strangled her and insulted her. They forcefully removed her blouse and took pictures! Speaking Runyakore, they asked why she would get married to a muganda, and why we would dare challenge Museveni.

They beat up our askari and house maid. They ordered the askari to show them where the basement is, where I was hiding. These criminals asked where my children were!

My wife was rushed to hospital where she remains admitted - dealing with all the physical and psychological trauma. Yet in all this, we remain firm in our belief that UGANDA WILL BE FREE.

COMMISSION STATEMENT ON RECENT EPISODES OF VIOLENCE DURING CAMPAIGNS

The Electoral Commission has noticed recent incidents of violent confrontations between some candidates, their agents or supporters, and law enforcement.

In particular, the Commission condemns the violent episodes on Friday, 28th November, 2025, that resulted into the loss of one person and injury to others. Such incidents clearly do not add value to our democratic dispensation.

This is unfortunate and regrettable for a campaign exercise that has been, and remains largely peaceful across the country where over 83,000 candidates from Subcounty councillors to President, are contesting for over 45,000 elective positions.

These incidents should be investigated to establish the root causes, and culprits should be held accountable in accordance with relevant laws.

The Commission reiterates its call on all stakeholders, including candidates, their agents and supporters to conduct themselves peacefully and within the law during this campaign period and beyond.

The Commission further calls on candidates, their agents and supporters to desist from using sectarian language that sows hatred, incites violence and provokes confrontation.

The Commission calls on law enforcement agencies to ensure there's compliance with electoral laws and guidelines by applying the necessary means that are commensurate to the prevailing circumstances in a given area.

Ladies and gentlemen, what you are about to witness is truly extraordinary. While campaigning in Iganga today, Bobi Wine—surrounded by a sea of supporters—encountered what could have been a significant inconvenience: heavy rainfall. As tens of thousands marched alongside him, singing and chanting his name, the skies opened and it didn’t simply rain—it poured.

One might have expected Bobi Wine to pause and wait for the storm to pass. Instead, he continued moving with the crowd, jogging, dancing, and celebrating with them in the downpour. Remarkably, the rain ceased shortly thereafter.

Upon reaching the venue, it quickly became clear that the space was far too small for the massive turnout, leading to overcrowding and even some supporters fainting due to congestion.

This overwhelming show of support in the eastern region highlights not only the deep affection many people have for Bobi Wine but also the declining popularity of President Museveni in Busoga, as voters appear increasingly ready for change ahead of the 2026 elections.

I am very sad to announce that after a very successful rally in Iganga, the police and military attacked us yet again, in order to disperse our supporters who were leaving the rally back home. Like they have done elsewhere, these criminals fired live bullets at peaceful people and in the process killed at least one comrade and injured several others.

So far we have confirmed the murder in cold blood of Meshach Okello who was shot through the head. (We're told that the police smuggled two other bodies from from the scene after shooting them, which information we're still trying to verify)! The other comrades who were severely injured and are fighting for their lives in hospital include Nuwamanya Samuel 24 (aged 24), Naminya Banuli (aged 44), Faima Namusobya (aged 24).

Museveni and his criminal regime must be held accountable for all these crimes against humanity!

Once again, I urge police/ security agencies to keep law and order in a non-violent and non-partisan manner during this campaign period.

It's unrealistic to ban processions of supporters. Political rallies are not prayer meetings to which worshippers go calmly. Political rallies are about excitement. And with Uganda's public transport (bodaboda) it's unrealistic to expect supporters to move to campaign venues quietly. Ensure supporters don't harm others, but let them be.
