Eric Mack, whose brother was killed by Fall River police in 2021, sued for records from the investigation that cleared officers. A judge ordered the DA to release the records, but the DA appealed. Just in: the DA now owes Mack $44,000 for legal fees he incurred fighting the case

The jail population in Massachusetts has decreased since 2017 "bail reform" (an ability to pay standard judges often ignore) by ~16%.

But that decrease basically only represents fewer white people in jail!
