For reference – the BC Liberals had 23,713 voters in the 2022 leadership race. CPBC closing in on a symbolic milestone that they should be able to eclipse when results are announced on Saturday.
Danielle Johnston, @ElectionsBC as the communications director for Elections BC, deliberately declined to name the senior campaign officials from BC United who directed the website and mail out operation. By refusing to release the identities of the campaign manager, deputy campaign manager, or other directing figures who hired Sovereign North Strategies Inc., she ensured there was no public accountability for those responsible. This refusal to disclose the names sends a clear message that Elections BC places protection of political insiders above any real transparency in the handling of election violations.
Her decision not to provide the names, despite the determination letter confirming the scheme occurred under the direction of those officials, leaves voters without any way to know who authorized the effort during the pre campaign period. There exists no legitimate reason for such secrecy when the public deserves full disclosure about who was involved in the misleading campaign. Johnstons refusal to name the individuals involved turns the entire process into one with no meaningful accountability for the actions taken.
This approach of withholding the names reveals a troubling failure to deliver openness in matters that directly affect democratic fairness. By not releasing the identities of the people involved, Johnston allows those responsible to avoid any public scrutiny or consequences. Her role demands clear communication about the investigation, yet she consistently chooses to withhold the names, which only raises questions about why the election watchdog will not provide basic details.
The public has every right to expect full disclosure in cases like this, and Johnstons failure to provide the names constitutes a disservice to British Columbians who expect their election officials to prioritize accountability over secrecy. Such behavior from a senior communications official highlights a deeper issue where those entrusted with election oversight fail to deliver the names and details needed for real responsibility. It is long past time to hold this approach accountable for creating a situation with no real transparency or consequences in the BC United matter.

This 👇🏻 . . . a 44% increase in daily meeting fees, brought to you by @Dave_Eby while the healthcare system is in crisis and we struggle to keep our amazing healthcare professionals in the system.
The NDP continually does this. There is no public benefit to appointing partisan NDP friends & insiders onto public boards. It is not by accident so many services are failing under the "leadership" of the Eby NDP. The public interest needs to come before the political interests.
I’m curious … when is the right time to balance the budget according to the NDP?
BC is already $18B in debt.
How much more are we going to invest in debt servicing instead of healthcare and education?
Quite a thing to see the NDP - who have failed to build many of the things they promised to build during the last election, once again promising they will build things as an election approaches.
NEW - Due to a physician shortage at Mission Memorial Hospital, Fraser Health is implementing a closure at emergency room from tonight at 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. tomorrow. Emergency-trained nurses will support walk-in patients needing basic first aid. #bcpoli
This alarming $2 billion overrun on the Surrey-Langley SkyTrain is just the latest in a string of massive cost overruns under the NDP. Projects like the Surrey, Burnaby, & Richmond Hospital expansions have each blown past their budgets by over $1.1 billion.
These spiraling costs are a direct result of David Eby and the NDP’s Community Ripoff Agreements, which funnel taxpayer dollars to the pockets of their hand-picked unions.
At a time when British Columbians are struggling with skyrocketing costs and an affordability crisis, the NDP’s reckless mismanagement of public funds and major infrastructure projects is not just deeply concerning — it’s a threat to funding for essentials like healthcare, housing, and education. #BCpoli
This is getting ridiculous! @Dave_Eby wasn’t elected as Premier and lots of people have some pretty serious questions for @JohnRustad4BC - the attitude that says they don’t need to show up for debates is telling. Make sure they know how you feel about it!!
Just imagine if we could take these billions of dollars in overruns, unnecessarily wasted due to NDP mismanagement, plus the billions in cost overruns on all of the other projects they’ve bungled and apply them to tax relief in the middle of an affordability crisis.
Enough with reckless mismanagement and wasteful handouts to NDP insiders.
A @votebcunited government will scrap the NDP's costly community rip-off agreements and get back to respecting taxpayer dollars. #BCpoli
