Seton Hall was picked by most insiders to finish last in the Big East this season. Now they sit tied for fourth place in conference play with an overall record of 18-9. How did they do this you may ask? Well the play of Adam โBuddโ Clark is a huge reason why. ๐
-
Budd Clark was unranked coming out of West Catholic Prep in Philly. He ultimately committed to play for Merrimack of the MAAC conference. Clark had a very successful freshman season but his Sophomore season is where he really jumped into the national spotlight. In the 24/25 season he averaged 19.8 PPG while also adding 6.0 AST.
-
Clark ultimately decided to enter the portal where he immediately became a 4 star transfer with multiple high major interest. But Clark took a chance on Coach Shaheen Holloway and Seton Hall. Safe to say itโs paying off for both sides.
-
Clark has been the engine of an overachieving Seton Hall team. So far averaging 12.7 PPG 4.8AST and 2.0 STL. While being undersized at 5โ10 165lbs I still believe Clark is one of the best perimeter defenders in all of the Big East. He has quick hands and incredible lateral quickness.
-
Clark is also an incredible playmaker. Sometimes he is almost too fast for his teammates but nonetheless he finds them. The ultimate break starter is a good way to describe Clark as he is incredibly dangerous when playing in transition. But when you also need to slow it down and control the speed of the game Clark is that guy.
-
Lastly Clark has a knack for tough buckets. He can get downhill and finish with both hands at almost any angle. He is incredibly quick and has a great spot and go ability which helps him get to his spots in the mid range or around the basket. Paired with an elite handle Clark becomes incredibly crafty.
-
Adam โBuddโ Clark deserves a ton of flowers for his role in turning around this Seton Hall team this season. He will be a household name come March.

Seton Hall guard Budd Clark (@buddclarkk) has taken his game to another level in Big East play. In 14 games (7-7 in conference play and #4 in the conference) he is averaging 14.6 PPG, 4 APG, 3.2 RPG, 2.3 SPG, 45.9% FG.
I donโt care if youโre talking the MAAC, the Big East, the park, literally any court at any level - Budd Clark is going to play some of the best, highest IQ, most instinctual PG play youโre going to see. As pure as you can play that position.

A wild stat: I'm told Budd Clark is the only Big East player with a 31-point, 8-assist, 5-steal stat line (or better) in regulation in Elias' college database, which dates to 1996. Last Big East player to do it at all was Syracuse's Jonny Flynn in the 6-OT epic vs. UConn in 2009.
I genuinely enjoy watching Seton Hall COMPETE. Theyโre rumbling. & they havenโt made a 3pt basket. 3mins left in game.
They have Budd Clark & UCONN donโt.
