Pope Leo and the SSPX impasse.
To avoid a new ecclesial wound, the Vatican must make every effort to distinguish the Church’s irreformable teachings from prudential judgements that remain open to respectful criticism.

“I expect to die in bed, my successor will die in prison and his successor will die a martyr in the public square. His successor will pick up the shards of a ruined society and slowly help rebuild civilization, as the church has done so often in human history.” (Francis Cardinal George)
@On3@Clowfb so you want anti-trust exemption? OK, then student-athletes become paid employees and aren't treated like on-demand servants any more. You want the government to get involved? Coaches make millions and move from school to school whenever they want, right? Compete & stop whining.
@pontificatormax@mgd4177 spot on. I lived in 1976 and was 12 yrs old. THAT was not anything like now. At least we were not aware of all the rot back then. Naive perhaps but but better spiritually.
NEW: NCAA President Charlie Baker on Texas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby's ruling:
"There is no better example of why targeted intervention from Congress is necessary. When you have schools and deep-pocketed supporters willing to look the other way on the glaring integrity threat of betting on your own team - and judges whose rulings effectively strip away our ability to stop them - only Congress can equip the NCAA to apply this common sense rule to everyone fairly and consistently. The Protect College Sports Act would empower the NCAA to enforce rules including the gambling restrictions - it's needed now more than ever."

@TaylorRMarshall I am 62 and am a baptized Catholic. I do not ever remember hearing a Priest from the pulpit teach that Catholic husbands are the spiritual heads of their families and what that means. Have you? I wonder why?
