After Outreachy, I’ve continued contributing to Git.
A small refactor led to an interesting code review about how CLI options propagate values internally.
Wrote a short post about the lesson.

Just wrapped my Outreachy internship with Git! 🚀
Grateful for mentors & community support.
Excited to see my work referenced for new contributors! 💻 #Outreachy#OpenSource#git

My experience:

Over the past months, our Dec.’25 interns contributed to #opensource projects, built new skills, and collaborated across global communities
Congratulations🎉
Huge thanks to the mentors and project coordinators who supported their journey.
As my Outreachy internship comes to a close, the focus remained on
migrating repository-specific global variables
into `struct repo_config_values`.

As my Outreachy internship progresses, Weeks 8 and 9 marked an important turning point in my project, not just moving code around, but tackling deeper design questions about how Git.

@outreachy Best mentoring advice: “Show your work, not just the problem.”
Mentorship isn’t only about answers, it’s about learning how to think.
That’s how open source scales.

@outreachy Shout out to @usman_akinyemi & @ChristianCouder my Git project mentors 💙
You taught me more than commands , you taught me good collaboration, clean history, & how to think like a contributor.
Every review, comment, and suggestion mattered. Thank you for the patience & support
Weekly Git Command #4
This week: git stash -p
It lets you interactively choose which changes to stash instead of stashing everything at once.
Really handy when you’re juggling multiple tasks.

Weeks 3 & 4 of my Outreachy internship 🎄
I worked on improving configuration handling in the Git project and learned how much thoughtful discussion goes into design decisions. I had live sessions with the maintainers

Weekly Git Command
This week: `git restore`
A cleaner way to undo file changes and unstage files, without overloading `git checkout`.

Learning this while contributing via Outreachy.

Weekly Git Command #1
This week's command: git show
A simple way to inspect a commit and see exactly what changed.

Week 2 - #Outreachy
Week 2 moved me from onboarding into real hands-on work. I finished last week’s task after a deep dive into debugging, call stacks, and learning how small assumptions ripple through Git’s codebase.

Open source doesn’t just give access to code, it gives access to people.
Grateful for the chance to learn, pair, and talk with my Outreachy mentors.

Week 1 of my @outreachy internship with Git is done!
Settled into the community, synced with my mentors, picked my first issue, and learned a lot already.
Grateful for the support from @ChristianCouder, @usman_akinyemi , and the @Git/@gitlab community.
