In a recent case, the labour court ruled that once an employee has resigned, they cannot withdraw the resignation unless the employer consents and such consent must be given prior to the expiry of the employee’s notice period when the resignation becomes effective.

Following a Supreme Court of Appeal judgement earlier this year, a maintenance order is considered a 'judgement debt' in terms of the Prescription Act, and will only "prescribe" 30 years after the order is made, instead of 3 years, which is usually the case for "ordinary" debt.

Employees owe an employer a set number of hours per day/week, employees working from home would need to prove that they have devoted the required time to the service of the employer, so it is not invasion privacy if the employer wants to monitor an employees hours
