Want to know more about the Reading Brain?
This webinar will review current research on brain plasticity, student characteristics associated with reading gains over time, as well as with 'learning loss' in reading.

More than 1,000 public-school pupils have been helped by MGH Institute speech-language pathology students over the past five years, thanks to a partnership between MGH Institute and Harvard-Kent Elementary School. Read more: https://t.co/ZfSQySR68A
Honored to have the future Dr. @maguireSLP part of the BEAM Lab, and grateful for her "voice for good"! Check out her fantastic story featured by @MGHInstitute: https://t.co/8MzYiDaNdT
Congratulations to @BEAMstudies lab member Amy @maguireSLP for presenting on the role of working memory in #reading and #math post-hemispherectomy. Manuscript forthcoming! Thank you for having us, @BrainRecoveryP
Dr. Joanna Christodoulou, Director of the Brain, Education, and Mind (BEAM) Lab, is the PI on a $3,758,142 five-year, NIH R01 grant, “Influence of ADHD and Executive Functions on Developmental Dyslexia.”
Another summary: "ADHD status alone had no measurable influence on reading performance or brain activation. Impaired EF in dyslexia, independent of ADHD status, was associated with greater deficits in reading fluency and greater reductions of activation in response to print..."
📢New findings on reading and executive function (EF): We find that students with dyslexia are similar to those with dyslexia + ADHD, but readers with stronger or weaker EF differ in reading brain systems and reading performance.

Eager to pack it all in this summer? Don't forget to #SlowYourRoll since mental rest is good for your brain, as @nytimes reminds us in citing Mary Helen Immordino-Yang, @Joanna22c & Vanessa Singh's 2012 study. #CandleUSC#MentalHealth https://t.co/5AMtrE5NyC
Today, we'd like to thank everyone who has participated in our autism research studies. We believe in societal acceptance, equity, and inclusion of neurodiverse individuals and we hope that our research will shed light on what makes each brain unique. #AutismAcceptance

Highlight 3: The criteria used to identify SLD in reading vary across, and sometimes within, school settings. https://t.co/EUu5aaAXOn
3/n *New Research on ID'ing Reading Disabilities*
Highlight 2: Only about half of practitioners indicated that school-based practitioners are allowed to use the term dyslexia in their setting. https://t.co/EUu5aaAXOn
