As part of our engagements in Sokoto, I joined our Presidential Candidate, His Excellency Peter Obi, at the Presidential Town Hall Meeting, Sokoto Series.
In my remarks, I urged our supporters to mobilise peacefully and in strict accordance with electoral laws, while emphasising the vital importance of grassroots participation.
The gathering brought together citizens, members of the NDC family, the Kwankwasiyya and Obidient Movements for an open conversation on the issues that matter most to Nigerians and the future of our country.

“Peter Obi said he's ready to give you better life, you said no, he's not your tribe, even though you're finding it very difficult to afford a daily meal. All the loan apps know you as a customer, many of you have turned to beggars" — Actor Laide Olabanji
Nigeria at 66: Looking Back, Looking Forward
Fellow Nigerians,
Today we mark the sixty-sixth anniversary of our independence. It ought to be a day of celebration and thanksgiving to God Almighty for the gift of life and for the immense blessings He has bestowed on our nation—our diversity, our abundant human and natural resources, our vast agricultural potential, and the relative absence of devastating natural disasters.
It should also be a day of appreciation and patriotism: a day to remember our founding fathers and all those who made selfless, and in many cases supreme, sacrifices for the birth, survival and growth of our dear nation. We must acknowledge the efforts of past and present leaders who have laboured, however imperfectly, to build a better Nigeria.
Yet independence anniversaries must never be reduced to mere celebration. They are moments for honest national reflection. We must look back, examine where we stand today, and ask ourselves whether we are moving in the direction our founding fathers envisioned.
In national planning and strategy, every serious nation must continually ask three fundamental questions:
Where are we today?
Where do we want to be?
How do we get from where we are to where we want to be?
These questions are especially urgent now. Despite the enormous promises made by the APC-led government in 2023, our nation continues to face deepening challenges across virtually every critical sector of national life.
Today we stand before the world as a nation:
With an extraordinarily large population living in poverty and severe hardship; over 140M
With one of the largest populations of out-of-school children in the world; over 18M
Where insecurity, terrorism, banditry and kidnapping continue to threaten lives and livelihoods, just recently 37 young Nigerians in their productive age lost their lives
Where millions of Nigerians struggle with hunger and food insecurity; over 40M Nigerians will be in extreme hunger by the end of 2026.
With unacceptably high rates of infant and maternal mortality; Nigeria today is the worst place to be born.
Where youth unemployment and underemployment remain alarmingly high; over 35M
Where drug abuse and substance misuse increasingly threaten our young population; today 14% as against global average of 6%
Where life expectancy remains among the lowest globally, today 54 years against global average of 74 years
And the list goes on.
This reality demands serious, sober and honest reflection. Socrates taught that “the unexamined life is not worth living.” By the same principle, an unexamined nation cannot successfully chart its future. We must therefore ask ourselves: Are we cursed, or have we become the curse through the choices we have made and the failures we have tolerated?
The answer cannot be that Nigeria is cursed. We are a nation immensely endowed and blessed. Our greatest problem is not a lack of resources; it is the failure to convert our enormous resources into human development, productivity, security and shared prosperity.
Only yesterday, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso and I returned from a two-day visit to Sokoto State. We held extensive consultations with people from different parts of the state on insecurity, out-of-school children, poverty, youth unemployment, drug abuse and other challenges confronting our people.
In concluding the visit, we went to the Internally Displaced Persons camp at Ramin Kura within Sokoto metropolis. What we saw was deeply troubling. Thousands of women and children live in deplorable conditions, displaced from their homes and deprived of the basic necessities of life. Many of the children have no access to education. Mothers and children have limited access to basic healthcare. These are Nigerians who should be living in their communities, going to school, farming their land, conducting their businesses and contributing to the economy. Instead, they live as displaced persons in their own country.
Who would’ve thought that a day would come where Peter Obi is being campaigned for in every nook and cranny of the north?
What a time to be alive! 🥹
Thank you, kwankwasiyya people!
Nigeria must be OK!
I made a website about @PeterObi. It details his entire life, his roots, offices held, source of wealth, documented donations, achievements as a governor, and more.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE: NIGERIA REQUIRES MORE THAN THE END OF CONFLICT
As the world observes the International Day of Peace, Nigeria must acknowledge a difficult truth: enduring peace cannot be achieved while citizens continue to face insecurity, hunger, poverty, and despair.
Peace means more than the absence of violence. It exists when farmers can travel safely to and from their fields, children can attend school without the threat of abduction, families can afford adequate food, and young people can envision a future in their own country.
For this reason, peace must be grounded in effective governance. Governments must safeguard lives, ensure justice, combat corruption, invest in education and healthcare, expand productive opportunities, and manage national resources responsibly.
We cannot continue addressing only the visible effects of insecurity while neglecting the circumstances that generate desperation and instability.
Every naira misused represents a lost opportunity to strengthen peace. Every citizen left without support reflects a crisis overlooked. Every injustice committed erodes the foundations of peace.
Nigeria possesses the resources necessary to become a secure, peaceful, and prosperous nation. What is required is leadership, accountability, and the political will to place the Nigerian people at the centre of governance.
On this International Day of Peace, let us pledge to build a Nigeria in which justice is upheld, lives are protected, opportunities are expanded, and every citizen can live with dignity and hope.
Responsible governance is the foundation of peace.
A new Nigeria is POssible. -PO
Video📹; Moving with His Excellency Peter Obi is sometimes just therapy.
Here’s A brief vlog of today’s activities….
Nigeria Will Definitely Be OK. ✔️🇳🇬
Ndi Anambra are not marketing Peter Obi enough. Where did you keep all these in 2022?
Everyone has throwback videos except Tinubu.
I had to dig up another one. This was one of his handworks at St. Anthony of Padua High School, Nkpor, one of the mission schools owned & operated by the Onitsha Archdiocese.
This school remains one of the best in Nigeria. Anambra State has some of the best schools, courtesy of Peter Obi. Parents across the SE take their children to study in Anambra.
Peter Obi’s investments in education were transformational. Thirteen years have passed, & his successors have failed to match his records. When it comes to education, leave it to Anambra. The 2009–2014 set are so proud.
It’s Peter Obi or nothing, he remains unrivaled!
It was a good decision to return some of the schools back to the missions (their original owners). That policy paid off. Who is in the best position to shape our young ones into the leaders of tomorrow other than the missions?
This was a generational transformation, it was capital formation in its simplest form. This was productivity like no other, it is how you write your name in gold. Now I wonder where these children are today. Their teachers as well.
It’s a roll call, raise your hands & be counted!
Impact of PETER OBI in Education sector.
-What he did as a governor in Education will take him a month to mention and people can go and verify with their phone.
1. Obi constructed 5 classrooms in 177 communities each in Anambra.
2. He renovated Over 400 Schools.
3. In the history of Africa, Obi is the first governor that distributed 30,000 laptop and desktop to all students in Public school in Anambra, he got 22,500 HP laptops from Microsoft.
4. He equipped more than 450 schools with Microsoft Academy (ICT)
5. He distributed 1,400 printers and 500 generators to public schools in Anambra.
6. He ensure all schools uses free internet.
7. He provided 520 transformers to all schools in Anambra
8. There was Education reform during his period, before his tenure as the governor ends, the waec and neco they have always being in 24th position but when he got there throughout his government they took 1st.
9. He is the only governor that left without asking for anything or taken anything from the state including land and advise people to give the gift they wanted to give him to old people.
10. He is the only candidate that people are willing to donate for his presidency campaign.
11. He was the only governor that United Nation send a professor from Oxford to go and understudy him.
12. During his tenure ANAMBRA won the best in ICT all over the world.
We follow him because he has the capacity to transform Nigeria and make the nation great.
