Twenty-five years is a long time. Almost half my lifetime now. But the world keeps rolling along--imperfectly, but it keeps on truckin'.

There was a world before 9/11. I remember this world. And I think it was a better world--at least a better world to be an American.

I'd like to write this off as a product age and nostalgia for my youth. But no, it was a better time. Maybe the best.

I know this is true.

Many of us were too young to remember it, and many more (such as my children) never knew it.

They'll never know what that world was like. And they'll never understand what was lost.
