I called ERAP today to check on a clients application that was submitted in March. ERAP stated that they hadn't gotten to March yet and were still working on Januarys. DC urgently needs more funding for ERAP.

Years ago the council mandated that D.C. move its rent-control paperwork into digital format and create a public database of all rent-controlled units. The project has been delayed for years, as I reported in late 2020: https://t.co/k90LSK90qC

One key issue: Bowser's administration says it can't absorb the somewhat meager costs of implementing the council's emergency bill to prevent the rent hikes. Why? Well, D.C.'s rent-control system is still mostly paper based, so changes take time and personnel.

Councilmember McDuffie, re-introduced the Reparations Foundation Fund and Task Force Establishment Act of 2023. The legislation would establish a 9-member task force to study and develop reparations proposals for African Americans in the District of Columbia.
